Now that the day was here the Lord of Mercurior found herself pacing the clearing where everyone were to meet. She was alone, for now, isolation her companion between her sparse meetings with other beings that called this valley home and now she was going to be surrounded by strangers with different belief's and mindsets from her, which wasn't necessarily a bad thing just...something she'd have to get used to in this time. She had to set an example for her guild and the responsibility weighed heavier on her shoulders than ever before. There was no use in prolonging it, the valley needed them to move fast. With a sigh the wood toned fae came to a stop, feeling the anxiety clench her chest like a vice, tilting her head towards the sky as she released a long and low howl that seemed to echo around her long after she closed her maw. She did her best to force down her worries, telling herself all would be well and part of herself believed this but...if that was the case then why did a dark shadow seem to hang off of her like an invisible cloak?

I was made to rise above it Timber stared back at Jethro, her body still rigid with anger that someone would treat him so poorly. She understood anger and resentment ran through the world and not everything was good and holy but that didn't mean it kept her from getting angry when it happened. She had her faults, she was fully aware, but she was not someone to tolerate injustice. "You are more than an ugly runt." She told him, the words make her mouth taste bitter, 'you at least have a kindness in you." She said, about to reach out and take the branch from him when it seemed his understanding of her rank clicked in his head, his voice reflecting that and for a moment she felt some loss.
Yes she was blessed for her lot in life she had now, her ability to lead a guild but at the same time she liked the anonymity it gave her to be new in this valley where she could speak to anyone as if there was no difference between them...until they understood her standing and ultimately would treat her differently. "Yes, leader." She confirmed, reaching and finally taking the branch from Jethro.
Without a word she turned and started to run it across the brutes fur, brushing off the caked on mudd.

Athena sunk into his touch with a sigh, he heard what he had to say but it didn't make things hurt any less as she grappled with the fact that Hawk was leaving. She did glance at Maxem, whose somber gaze was sure mimicking hers, they did have each other but Hawk had been like the missing piece they needed to make their group feel whole.
"I love you too Hawk," Athena said softly, pulling away to look at him in the eyes, "you better come back." Her voice had meant to sound strong, almost like a threat but it only came out hallow as she took a step back.
Maxem straightened when Hawk addressed him, nodding. Brothers. Hawk had become more like kin to him than his own blood and it was fascinating and ironic that now he'd be stepping away. "I will do my best brother." He said, taking a step towards the two, he wasn't strong and he was intelligent but he could piece together what Hawk meant. He'd be there for a Athena but he refused to accept the possibility of Hawk not coming back. He had to.

The world it turns no matter what Milo shrugged when she admitted to underestimating him, in his opinion there wasn't a lot about there was to worry about anymore. Gone was the fire and arrogance that made him leap into fights and flaunt his strength, now all replaced with humor to cope. "Don't be fooled, there is a lot of foolishness within me." He said with a small smile, casting her glance, "but none the less it all worked out in the end I think."
At talk of his back felt something harden deep in his chest, the weight making it hard to breathe. "My old pack doesn't know who I am now, only who I was and all I can do is try to be better." His voice was thoughtful but internally the guilt was laying heavy in his bones. He eyed her from the side when their fur touched, ready for her to snap at him, not that he would judge from their situation, he was just ready but what he wasn't ready for was how she used himself like a spring board to get moment for her own walk, the ploy making him smile from her cleverness.
"Oh ho ho, you've caught me," his voice picked up with a teasing tone as he tried to ignore the shadow following his existence, "maybe I want to show off by carrying you across the land despite how heavy you claim to be, berries and all." He teased, picking up the pace to catch up with her, a large grin stretching across his mouth.

I was made to rise above it With ever bit of mud that fell from her Timber felt lighter, a soft sigh escaping from relief. Every swipe of the branch made the tightness in her body lessen. Her eyes closed for a moment but the second Jethro threw around words of him being ugly they snapped back open, head turning as she looked at him with narrowed eyes.
"You are not ugly, I don't know who it is filling your head with these kinds of lies but I have a mind to rip out their throat." She said sternly, any sense of humor well over her head. In her younger years she hadn't tolerated cruelty and that trait sure as hell hadn't changed despite what she thought of herself.
She was ready to badger him for names until the subject was changed and he asked about her marks. "They are a sign of my guild," she explained with a softer tone but an edge was still underlying it, "every member receives a mark as a brand and I, being their Lord, hold many."

Of course the moment she had found a companion fate was pulling him away, Athena held back a sigh as she leaned into Hawks nuzzle, eyes partially closing but snapping back open the moment he pulled away. She looked between the two men in the clear, standing a little straighter as Hawk explained the reason he called their meeting, confirming her suspicions. She almost laughed at herself for being right about something like this. Her maw opened to speak but Maxem was quicker.
"I think we both had an idea you'd be one of the two to go," Maxem said a bit ruefully, "but it's an honor to be chosen...I think I speak for both of us when I say...come home safe." He said softly, how awful would it be for him to lose one of his only friends in this godforsaken place.
Athena rose, padding over to Hawk, stopping in front of him, eyes narrowing as she looked into his. "You have no choice but to come back." Her voice was strong but underneath, like ice, it was cracking for how cruel fate would be to take away one of the few shining things in her life.

I don't wanna live for nothing Silver looked back at Iro, head tilted but made no move to encroach on the reptiles personal space. She turned her attention back to Leocadio, a smile slipping over her lips, "that's a good point but I'm sure Wynd was going to be content with any body part until I finally turned to face the proud creature." She laughed softly at the startled look on the badgers face when she had decided to stop fighting and their bond had been formed.
Her eyes drifted up, meeting Lecadio's and for a moment it was like her heart seemed to forget how to work. "The great Anima," her scoff was more like a cough in response, "sometimes arguing can raise new ideas...sometimes." She said, being one to like hearing both sides of stories even though she wasn't the biggest fan of conflict.
"He better." She replied to the question about Alesso, her eyes narrowing, "Leocadio," she turned to look at him, "we may have differing view points on this but to me, everyone deserves at least a second chance, this is the first time he has stepped foot in our land since being banished, I may have been too kind but I draw the line now. If he returns his blood will soak this earth." With a shake of her head she looked away. if he did return she realized she may have to witness the destruction but, he had been warned and this was it.
"Well those who don't," the moonlit fae brought her face back to Leocadio's, her body moving as if on its own as she leaned over, nudging his shoulder with her nose, "don't matter. There's no point in giving second thoughts to those who are like that in your life. I learned that a long, long, time ago."

I don't wanna live for nothing "I'll be waiting for it." Silver smiled back at him, she wouldn't have her guard up all the time, waiting for his rebuttal, but it would be amusing if anything did happen between them. Perhaps, this may be her hopeful side talking, if the two of them became friendly it could show the other Shepherds that Leocadio wasn't that bad. He had his sharp edges but that didn't mean he was entirely bad or needed to be avoided. He was just...different and that didn't mean bad.
"There's a lot I don't know, but the key part is acting like I know everything." Silver said, her smile shrinking. Briefly she was hit with a fuzzy memory of an argument between herself and Onyx, back when they used to speak. She couldn't remember the topic but she did remember the venom to his words and how he cut her down as if she was nothing the one time she had spoken up, calling her a know it all about nothing at all, the words, as trivial as they seemed, cutting into her young heart and leaving a deep scar-and a physical one on her shoulder when he felt he needed to better put her in place.
She had learned from that day to keep her mouth shut, especially around her shadowed brother. Though the conflict had been years ago it had lasting affects on her as an adult, leaving her moments where she felt she had to put up an act. An Anima had expectations and she needed to live up to them, even if it meant acting in a way that had lead to her being so brutally reprimanded in her best. "Peace," she spoke softly, "can be both a blessing and a curse from the effects it has." She agreed with Leocadio, training outside of ones rank was not deemed meaningful, even if it meant safety.
Silver, figuring their talk was about over was ready for inevitable silence, though it could be stated the world was never really silent. Birds chirped, air rustled the leaves, and when it was plentiful water babbled over brooks. Even now a bird chirped for help but Leocadio was the first to respond and render aid, speaking softly and in a way that made Silvers heart soften towards the man as he lifted the bird back into the nest. As he turned to her she tried to move her face into an impassive expression as they continued their walk.
"Yes, our warriors," she said, voice turning stoic, thinking of her brothers. They were decent warriors, like their parents, but there would always be blood she believed and thinking of them made the taste in her mouth turn sour. "We are safe but we all need to remember how dangerous the world can be. Our warriors may be great but as you said, a breach is not impossible."

It's all so close and yet so far Zero clenched his jaws, every word this infuriating pup speaking to him just pushing him closer to the edge of snapping. If Shepherd was here he'd be sure this annoying flea would have the sense knocked into him-while be obnoxious the entire time. He drew himself up by his shoulders, a feeble attempt to seem taller than he was, and bared his teeth at the girl. "My. Name. Is. Zero. Just. Zero." His voice held a growl to it, well, as much of a growl as a young thing like him could muster at this point in his life, making him with he could grow up faster and not be trapped in this little body unable to fight as hard as he wanted to.
"My plan is that I'm going to ignore you and keep going." He huffed, tired of all this talk, it was taking away from valuable time. He had to be back to Ara and his sister before nightfall if they hadn't already noticed his absence. If he couldn't find his mentor this entire voyage would be for not.
As he stared at the other pup who seemed to be playing guard he just got more and more annoyed. "What I do is none of your business," he snapped at her, annoyance growing from her remark about his pride. "The only thing that's going to be hurt is you if you don't get out of my way. You're as helpful as a tick." He grumbled, finally tired of this banter and made his way to go around this want to be guardian and continue his search.

A million dreams are keeping me awake "Well, nice to meet you Ramir, officially." She beamed at him, her mind leaping to the conclusion that they would be friends, seeing there not being a reason why they couldn't be. They were of the same pack and so far the conversation had been going well.
Briar's ear perked up as Ramir described his encounter, her eyes widening a little with wonder but her mouth dropped at his question. "Meeting them? I don't think so! But it would be so interesting to see how their pack works but they sound kind of scary." She said, sure she was built for speed but she wasn't oblivious to the chance there were others quicker than she and she wasn't meant for combat and didn't feel keen about risking her own life just for curiosities sake.
"I believe you, I think I'd rather stick around here." She said, brightening once again, "there's still a lot to be explored around here, I need new running trails."

I was made to rise above it It was almost as if she could feel his gaze on her as it drifted to the scars of her muzzle. Painting them with red had been a way for her to overcome the shame and pain that they held for her, turning them into a recognizable brand that was supposed to carry strength but there were times, like this, where she found herself wishing she hadn't, the looks, no matter what emotion they held, crawling under her skin. Instead of shrinking away she stood a bit straighter, stiffening at her shoulders.
Her face was passive...until the man said the name of a strange wolf she had met, her eyebrow quirking up. "Revan...yes, I remember him." She admitted, their interaction had been brief but one that had burned into her brain from how...odd it had been. She was a bit surprised that someone like the one in front of him was associated with someone like that, but she tried not to judge. "Trouble? More like confusion." She allowed herself to joke, finally sitting back on her haunches but keeping her distance.
The warmth of the sun settled on her, making her give the softest of sighs as she continued to listen to the man before her, looking back at him. "You want to know about my guild..." she repeated slowly, it was rare she was sought out and it took her moment to gather herself, "we go by the name of Mercurior...did your friend not share what I had told him?" She asked with a bit of a teasing tone to her voice, the herbs at her side now forgotten. "Tell me, what is your name?"

I know I always come and go Maxem's head tilted when he asked about him changing his name. That wasn't a norm that he knew of, or even an option he had considered. He was already the odd one out of his pack and he didn't need to separate himself more. "Change it? That's not something I think my pack would condone, I don't need to be more of a pariah." He scoffed, not wanting to think more about how...different he was.
"Apparently not too shocking since you're the one who asked," the earthy wolf quipped back to the one above him, eyes narrowing but there was still a playfulness glinting behind them, more alight when this Revan character continued with this misnaming game. At least he assumed all of this was being done on his part intentionally. "Well Rueben you have to come down eventually and we'll be on equal ground...unless..." He looked up at the tree he had fallen from, either he didn't learn from his lessons or he was a gluten for punishment as he leapt up to the nearest branch determined to see how high he could go...even though he risked falling again but he hadn't broken anything...yet...and wasn't going to stop.

When she had first heard of this damn Athena thought the whole idea was preposterous, how could little creatures like beavers cause so much damage? Their actions were killing the valley and now there was a whole new faction of wolves coming to help and forge a place for themselves here. The idea of it all made the grey knight feel suspicious of the whole thing and she wasn't planning on going. She didn't want to leave her pack unprotected and didn't much yearn for a journey but she should have known that someone she adored would be wanting to go out and risk their life, which she assumed was what Hawk had planned with calling this meeting.
On her way to the clearing she met with Maxem, who didn't say anything but the worried look in his eyes said it all. Their shoulders brushed against each other in a sign of support as they walked to the fallen tree. Maxems mind was buzzing. He envied the wolves who were able to go to investigate this dam, he wanted to go out on an adventure but didn't say a word. No one would support a Pawn going on such an important mission and representing their pack. A soft sigh escaped him as he sat by the tree, a foreboding feeling settling over his shoulders like a blanket of snow.

I was made to rise above it "Okay..." Timber wondered what this idea was but she wasn't going to nuisance him with questions, staying quiet as she watched him, hoping he'd be able to get the muck off of her.
Her eyes followed after the man she had helped, not distrusting of him completely but curious as to what his plan was. Whatever it was she hadn't expected him to drag over a tree branch. Seeing it made her tongue run over her teeth as if checking for splinters, luckily finding none. Her body stiffened as he made the first swipe with the branch, the sensation odd but once she felt the weight of the mud lessen she managed to relax.
"Clever idea," she commented. glancing over her shoulder at him, she wouldn't have thought about it herself or had a way to try it but she'd have to try to remember this method if she, god forbid, found herself in this kind of predicament again. "If you would like I could do the same for you." She offered, thinking it would only be fair.

I was made to rise above it The closer the days got to the fated journey of the dam to more Timber felt she needed to roam. She couldn't stay in one place too long, her mind racing and barking at her that she needed to do something but most of the guild stores had been refilled and she felt lost on what to do with the extra time. She dreaded these moments and how it left her mind to wander. No matter how hard she tried her thoughts always drifted back to her past and how her heart had once thrummed with joy and now it beat for the sake of just keep her blood pumping.
In an attempt to keep her head busy she traveled through the valley, acquainting herself with more of the land. If everything went right this could become the home for her guild and it would be in good faith to know the terrain. Her paws carried her along a trail that still held the scent of deer though she wasn't interested in hunting, but it would do well to now for the future. She kept her head down as she walked along the trail, ears pricked forward but she wasn't really listening for much, not thinking that there could be a possible danger out there for her.
