The closer he was able to get to his teacher the more excitement raced through Zero at the promise of being able to land some kind of blow. He did his best trying to contain that energy to push him forward, to the moment he pushed off from the ground and in his mind, soared like an eagle, towards his target. His eyes locked onto Artemis but to his dismay, at the last second, she turned and he was sure he was going to miss until to his great pleasure, he felt his teeth make contact and the smallest twinge of copper touched his tongue before he crashed to the ground.
His shoulder his first and he went rolling in a small cloud of dust that settled just a bit after he came to a stop, lifting his head as the world seemed to spin and his tongue brushed over his teeth but that taste from before was already fading but...it seemed to awaken something, the want for more and a bit of pride as he saw that white pelt marred with the tiniest bit of red.
"I did it!" He yipped, launching to his paws like his legs were made of springs. "Again! I need to do more!"

If he could, Maxem would grumble some more but his chest was still aching and he was putting most of his focus on inhaling and exhaling the best that he could. He was sure that after all of this the other fellow would leave him behind to regain his bodily functions but instead he took him by surprise, instructing him on what to do.
His gaze flicked up the black and red wolf who had drawn up to his feet with out any form of visible trouble, making some envy wash through Maxem. Why couldn't he be that resilient? Probably for the same reasons that he couldn't keep up his energy enough to be an actual hunter, the very thing that kept him from being what had been expected of him when he was young.
Despite the swirling thoughts he managed to listen, relaxing his core as he continued to take more focused breaths even with the constant aches pulsing through his body. It took him a few moments until he was finally able to get his paws under him and push up to at least sit, shooting Revan a less than please look. "Well until now no one else has been able to get to me up there." He said, feeling the envy turn into embarrassment but then again, no one tried to get to him, they all just ignored him unless it was time to hunt and they needed scouting to be done.

The solitude that the position in her pack offered her was one of the only things Moro cherished in the world. Sure there were times where her solitude would be interrupted-like now-but more often than not she was left alone. Besides stupidity and little scuffles there wasn't much reason for the others in her pack to seek her out but when they did...it made the fae smile a little, knowing that in that moment she had the power, which was one of the only things that mattered in the Sanzin.
Hearing a small voice call into her den made her pause, brows knitting together. The voice had to belong to a child, tugging her to rise from her stash of herbs and walk towards the light where a small silhouette waited. "Your search isn't in vain," she said lowly, voice a bit rasp for lack of use, "what is it you need child?" Moro asked as she left the darkness of her den and stepped into the light, eyes narrowed as they adjusted, her overabundance of fur making her appear much larger than she was bits of herbs caught in the tangles, especially in her tail where it drug across the ground, giving her the appearance of something that was born from the earth in the shape of their kind.

Briar nodded, hating these troubling thoughts. Was it so hard to ask for a life where there was peace and she was able to go out hunting without worrying about an ambush or the safety of the pack. Apparently so. She breathed a sigh of relief when Ramir asked if they should head back and nodded without hesitation. "I think that's a good idea, it is getting a little late." She said, glancing towards the sun. Normally her energy would be screaming at her to go and run but all the thoughts from the day seemed to drain her and the idea of a nap seemed more and more enticing.

Maxem frowned at the other male, wondering if he was planning something or what exactly was going on. He had naively thought this had been a friendly interaction with some banter thrown back and forth but something was making his fur stand on end as the other came closer to him. "Why would you-ack!" Before he knew what was going on the other man launched at him like some kind of psychopath. What was he thinking? They'd both end up going down and Maxem didn't want to be stuck eating dirt again but it seemed like he didn't have a choice as their bodies collided, knocking him out of the tree.
His paws may have been good for climbing and his body lithe enough to maneuver but didn't seem to help him in the moment as his brain screamed out the word panic. Maxem tried to twist, turn, do anything but they were dropping too fast and his body hit the ground with a loud thud, knocking the wind out of his chest and pain to strike through his side and head where impact had been made and he swore stars were swirling in his vision. "Ugh..." he groaned, "you're...." he gasped, "and asshole...Ras...putin."

Silver tensed, sure that this stranger was about to run from her. If that was the case she'd have to give chase to ensure they fully left the territory, it was her duty, even though she wasn't a huge fan of the hostility. Living in a place as closed off as the Au'Dar territory was weighing on her, making her antsy, but she had a role to perform, an important one. She couldn't just run off or pick and choose what rules to follow but then again...Her eyes cut from side to side, confirming that no one else had caught wind of the strangers scent and had come to investigate. Perhaps she could bend the rules this one time...
"If you don't mean to intrude then why are you here?" She asked, voice taking on a formal tone. In front of her Wynd grumbled, pawing at the brush as if he was going to charge and knowing the badger it was a possibility. Where Silver's temper was relatively even Wynd was ready to snap at any moment. Her mentor had told her that a wolf and Tafa's bond was like a delicate balancing act where one balanced the other, but sometimes Silver wished her partner was just a bit more...thoughtful. "It is very dangerous for you to be in these lands." She warned for the longer they stayed here the more they risked being caught.

She knew she should be asleep, she had a long day ahead of her tomorrow but Silver couldn't bring herself to deny the freedom that the night offered her. When the stars and moon were in the sky she was able to wander the lands of her pack and occasionally cross the border without being caught by another or questioned as to why she wasn't helping the Tafa or leaving her den at all. She loved her role as the Anima and her ability to help her back but at the same time she felt...trapped within that job with every eye on her, as if waiting for her to make a mistake while deep down she wondered...was this where she was meant to be?
With these thoughts plaguing her she left her den, Wynd at her side, and made her way quietly through the Au'Dar pack, careful to make the least amount of sound possible. At least in this time she could relax just for a moment but that allowed her mind to wander, remembering her last encounter with Leocadio, making her brows furrow. Try as she might she struggled to understand him and continued to struggle as to why it mattered to her so much to try to understand the brooding male. Attempting to ignore those thoughts she continued with her walk, growing closer to the border when the sound of wings met her ears, making her look up as a grow glided across the sky as if without a care in the world, making her smile a little...until something like a voice seemed to drift across the breeze, making her stiffen. Before she could react Wynd was off, ducking under the brush with a growl-as if he was the only being who could protect the land. With a roll of her eyes Silver followed after him, thinking that if there was a thread she, with her history, could take care of it. She followed her badgers scent when another mingled in the air until she finally came to a stop, spotting another wolf, causing a growl to rumble from her chest. "You're either very brave or very foolish to have made your way here." She warned, taking up a standing position behind Wynd and eyed the stranger.

In the silence that grew for a moment between them Maxem's mind started to wander, his gaze turning up towards the slivers of blue sky peaking between the stretching branches of the trees. At Revan's voice his head snapped back to attention, eyes widening a little. He could relate? Sure this guy was a little rough around the edges but he was definitely bigger than him and bound to be stronger, what was there not to appreciate? "Really? Well at least I'm not alone there." He said in small gist.
His eyebrow quirked at the name Margaret, trying not to laugh. Before he could utter a word he watched as Revan rose up without much effort and threat to his balance, standing on the tree limb as if it were nothing, the action sending a slimy finger of envy down his spine that he tried to ignore, but it seemed to sink its claws in deeper. He could detect the challenge underlying in his words, his lips peeling back in a slight smile, "yes."

Timbers head tilted ever so slightly when the male chuckled at her recount of interaction with Revan and thanking her for what she had done. She didn't think she had done anything too crazy to help him out, but if it was regarded as positive she wouldn't deny it. "I suppose you're welcome then," she said with a small smile, the action pulling her scars a back a bit, discomfort tugging at her face but as always she acted as if none of the feeling existed, reminding her of her mauled face and the memories it held.
As he leaned closer she stiffened, the action involuntarily as she eyed him. Even as her psyche whispered that she wasn't in harms way her body refused to acknowledge this, remaining ready for any possibility of attack. "I see...well, I am Timber, the Lord of Mercurior...and also an outsider to this valley." She admitted, wondering if this was really some kind of pleasure, them meeting when it snapped into her that he was meaning it as a joke, her small smile remaining. "What do you wish to know about the guild that brought your path to cross mine?" She wondered, with a bit of hope, that this meant there was a possibility that this man would want to join her group.

His honest answer made Briar's ears prick up, he got scared but still took on the role? She couldn't deny herself from being impressed by his admittance, her eyes widening a little as she looked at him. "It's good there isn't a lot of fighting, but it kind of makes me worried at the same time, ya know? Like can it be peaceful all the time or is there gonna be a day where something happens and all the peace goes away?" That was worded as a question but in her mind she was making more of a statement than anything, her mind wandering briefly. "I don't know if I could fight another wolf either if I had to," she told him for if peace was ever shattered would that mean things would become dire enough that those of all ranks would have to battle in order to protect their land and pack?

I don't wanna live for nothing The change in his voice nearly made Silver take a step back, not understanding what she could have said or done to make Leocadio's wall slam back up. For a moment, perhaps because of naivety, she had thought that perhaps the two of them could have formed some kind of relationship, but now she realized she had been fooling herself. She felt her throat tighten but it wasn't with the threat of tears. Instead her voice came out void of its softness.
"I was merely inquiring due to the time of day, I doubt that someone like yourself would even contemplate neglecting your duties. Forgive me for assuming." She lifted her head as Wynd looked between the two wolves, a low growl forming in his throat. "Oh hush you." Silver said, her voice gentling in her reprimand.
When Leocadio spoke again she allowed her gaze to slide back over to him, a shadow of hurt looming in them. "And I must tend to my duties. Forgive me for distracting you." She told him, turning away, her tail sweeping behind her.
"Think what you must about me, about the shepherds Leocadio, but I know what I think of you and there is not negativity there. Know that I have faith in your work, your skills and abilities, but also know that I do not look down upon you, I am thankful for your work and existence in our pack." She didn't wait for a response before making her way back the way she had come.
For a moment Wynd sat there, staring at Leocadio with a sneer wrinkling his nose. He may not have understood what was happening but he knew how his partner felt and he did not appreciate the one who had caused it. The badger growled once more before getting up, bounding after Silver.

A million dreams are keeping me awake As their talk switched to the duties of the knights the prior subject dropped from Briar's mind. It would be a fifty fifty chance of her remembering the topic later due to how her mind seemed to flit about from idea to idea, forgetting the oldest once the newest came round.
She listened intently, her eyes widening a little at the idea of fighting off something like a cougar. As a hunter their focus was the prey and the best way to single one off from their herd, of course there was threat of another predator taking their kill but it was so rare that it was yet another thing that was easy for her to forget until facing that moment. Her head nodded when he mentioned the training, "we do a lot of training too, but nothing like what you have to do I'm sure." She said, she was young but not dim enough to forget that each role held a purpose and had their own demands that presented different challenges she may not have to worry about.
Briar didn't catch his being nervous, his smile easing the tension in her shoulders just a bit. When he said that he'd protect her the young girl felt herself warm a little but was unsure what that meant. Instead of any forms of feeling she credited it to indigestion. "Well thank you! Let's just hope nothing happens and we can have a good rest of the day." She said cheerfully, a smile tugging up her lips. "I have to admit, the idea of your rank kind of terrifies me, I don't think I could ever fight someone else, even if I had to."

It's all so close and yet so far Any semblance of annoyance was lost as Zero, he was focusing as much of his mind as he could on learning from the woman before him. He hoped to have this chance to train again and again but there was no guarantee that this would continue after this day. He had to prove himself and commit all that he was learning to memory. He'd never have an opportunity like this once he returned to his pack.
At her order he steadied himself, eyes narrowing as his muscles twitched, wanting to lunge again but this time he stayed, tight as wound rubber bands as he tried to think about his next move. He reminded himself of what Artemis had told him, never run in straight line. His jaw clenched a little before he darted forward, focused on her nose but as quickly as he moved he darted to the right before throwing himself at her once again, this time aiming for the side of the woman expanse of white fur on her neck.

A million dreams are keeping me awake "There's no harm in hoping!" Briar responded with a cheerful smile, maybe not in their life time but maybe in the future things could change. maybe the Au'Dar would open their borders but as for the Sanzin? That may take some extra time but that didn't stop the young girl from dreaming of the day where the packs could live in peace, as tenuous as it could be.
Her mind buzzed from one subject to the next as another question popped into her head, making her look at Ramir with her own quizzical look. "What's it like being a knight? Besides all the patrols."
She nodded along to what Ramir said, believing him whole heartedly but she worry still clung to the back of her mind. Even if the other knights were close by how long would it take for them to come? She didn't know how to defend herself and she didn't think it would be fair if Ramir had to defend the two of them, especially if they were out numbered. "I hope a raid doesn't happen." She said, but her eyes still darted around where they were, still uneasy.

I don't wanna live for nothing Silver stared back at Leo as he stared at her, feeling her throat go a little dry. She turned her attention to Iro, managing to bring herself back under control as she swallowed. "Good...you can off so fast I wasn't sure if he was able to hold on." She spoke gently, looking over the snake once more before looking back to Leo, putting an easy smile on her face.
"Is it safe to assume that you've completed your duties for the day?" She asked, grasping for a neutral topic of conversation. She didn't want to bring up Yevara or anything related to the crane, out of respect for Leo but also because she knew it wasn't her business. Whatever type of relationship that had the potential of forming between herself and the opposing brute was fragile, like a freshly hatched bird, and she didn't want to risk breaking it with careless words.
She heard a rustling behind her, her ears perking up and she glanced back to see Wynd leaving the brush, ambling towards the air with his ever constant scowl, even when he made it to Silver's side, plopping down to sit with a grumble.
