Silver
Thoughts| "Spoken Word | Outside Speech | Tag Though every season has its own marks of beauty: Summer with the heat of the sun, Spring with its refreshing rains, and Autumn with its color changing leaves, Winter with its fresh snow of unmarked beauty would always be Silvers favorite. The snowflakes were soft and gentle as it fell down from the skies, tickling her whiskers and frosting her breath as it hung in the-for a moment suspended in time until fading away. It was beautiful. She smiled to herself as she went along her walk, her paws breaking on the fresh few inches of snow. At first the cold was startling but it was easy for the she wolf to get used to. She tilted her head towards the sky, taking a deep breath as more flakes fell, bringing a smile to her maw. The pack lands of the Au'Dar were quiet, it was still mid morning and yet the Anima had many of her tasks down, leaving her for some idle time. She wasn't sure what she was doing or where she was going, but a walk was what her mind asked for and so she complied.
She passed by the gardens, now lulled into a sleep from the frozen hand of Winter. Her paws carried her on out of the Au'Dar land and into that of the neutral land. She knew she shouldn't venture far but the promise of freedom and the lack of todays responsibilities were too tempting. The white wolf left behind her home to explore, though if found it could be disasterous. Someone such as herself shouldn't be out meandering and yet she was. Perhaps for a day she could let herself pretend to be normal while she allowed her mind to wander along her paws.
Many would call her a fool but it wasn't her intention for others to know about her lack of judgement. She knew she could handle herself in a battle and so the concerns of conflict were lost on her, again she wished to have a day to be normal as she made her way outside of the Au'Dar forest and into the land beyond.
I don't wanna live for nothing Just wanna be something

Mikhail Waiting, watching, a dark presence loomed over a hill. He stood still as stone, soft tufts of white gathering on his back as he stared forward, eyes trailing after her. Silver was far from their territory. Farther than any high rank should be unattended. Mikhail had recognized her scent immediately while on his morning rounds, and out of curiosity had followed her steps to the border, passing by the other warriors without so much as a glance. From there he knew he had to continue on, leaving the territory behind though he hated to do so. Silver was the Anima, his superior, his packmate. They'd scarcely ever shared words before now, and yet she was family still. Not that he'd ever say as much. He watched from his perch a moment longer, dark eyes following her path. She'd been hard to spot amongst the snow-covered hills, but was even harder to miss once found. Mikhail let out a grunt and starting covering the distance between them. Coming from behind her, he did nothing to silence the crunch of snow under his paws. "Silver. Is everything alright?" His voice was low: gruff and unwelcoming. But he and Silver grew up in the same place, and she must’ve know he posed her no threat. So would Wynd, if he was anywhere nearby. Bri

I don't wanna live for nothing Wynd leered from the brush, watching as Silver meandered along, the badger didn't understand she wanted to take this long walks, it unnerved him a little. She always seemed to be looking beyond, not content with the life they were given. The being wouldn't admit it, but it also scared him, what if something happened to her and they had to be split apart? Wynd wasn't sure if he could handle that...true he had tried to rip the girls face off when they met but she had proved to him the worthiness of her place in the pack and while they were bonded together she still gave him the freedom to roam but even with that he tried to stay near, wanting to guard his companion from any danger and for a moment all seemed well...until he saw someone making a straight beeline to his lady. A growl erupted from the badger and he lunged forward, bouncing through the snow and cursing he lack of height.
Silver was enjoying her silence morning, inhaling the cold air, feeling as it coursed through her lungs, seeming to freeze them, making them burn and reminding her that she was alive. She smiled to herself-then everything was shattered. Her ears pitched back, hearing the snarls of a very angry badger and it was getting a lot louder. She stopped in her place, turning to see her tafa struggling to cross the snow. Her fur raised and she spun around, ready to fight when she came face to face with a member of her own pack. Their noses nearly touching.
Instantly she recognized Mikhail and she straightened under his serious gaze, though she did take a step back, valuing her personal space. This was certainly not what she had expected when taking this journey. "Yes," she replied, "everything's fine...Mikhail, what brings you out here?" She asked her surprise nearly distracting her from her raging tafa, whose growls were getting closer.
"Wynd!" She snapped her head, calling out to her tafa, "It's alright." She said, not wanting him to tire himself and though she assured him she was fine, he kept on his way, though the badger had stopped growling and eventually got to the pair, taking his place between Silvers front legs, chest heaving and covered in snowballs.

Mikhail A torn ear swiveled, catching the sounds of growls and movement. Mikhail could've known it was Wynd without having to look, but he still did, catching the tafa's angry gaze and bowing his head. He turned back to Silver with every intention of silently moving out of her way, but she'd spun around to face him closer than expected. Mikhail's face was expressionless. Nonplussed, he took a step back in synchrony with the Anima. Silver straightened up then, recovering from his arrival with grace. "Everything's fine...Mikhail, what brings you out here?" It was a level response, one he considered her though the thin haze of snow, the brow above his bad eye twitching so minutely it'd be near impossible to catch. It was difficult to not turn the question back on her, but even Mikhail knew his place. "I caught your scent while patrolling," he settled on truthfully, words fogging up the frozen air between them. Wynd was getting closer still, and Silver paused to bark at him, to little avail. Mikhail watched the badger approach with her; tafas never did take a liking to him, with the exception of one. "You two shouldn't be out here alone. Let me join you." Typical of his reputation, it was hardly a question and more of a demand. Mikhail then found himself interrupted by a small rustling nestled in the long fur at his nape. Huffing, he turned his head to see Ghale pop out from beneath the snow that had collected there, a small pile of it on her head. Having heard Wynd's arrival, she flicked her tongue out happily, slithering about and disturbing the snow off of Mikhail's tall back. Knowing what she wanted, the wolf stuck out a forearm so she could easily get down, gaze softening by a small margin. Bri

I don't wanna live for nothing "Oh you stubborn boy." Silver murmured, bending her head down and biting into a few snowballs, pulling them off her too dignified to do it himself tafas neck. She pulled off majority of the snow and lifted her head, leveling Mikhail with her kind gaze as he spoke and gave a bit of a sheepish smile.
"I know I shouldn't be out here alone," she admitted, "but don't you ever feel the urge to just...get away from it all?" Though as she asked that she could predict his answer. He was a dedicated man, seemingly content with what their pack had to offer-much like her family-and for a moment she wished she was like that: content. Yes she loved her pack and the tafa but she couldn't help but wonder what the world was like away from it all, what she would be like away from it all. To go where no one else knew her but...she couldn't throw away her past. As much unhappiness as she had, there were still things here that gave promise and besides...who would take care of everyone if she weren't there? There wasn't anyone in training to be an Anima-it wasn't needed, in her conscious she couldn't abandon it all. She couldn't be that selfish.
"You want to join us?" She frowned a little, now that would be awkward. Mikhail wasn't a talker and Silver...well she got so anxious about silence that it made her have word vomit. "Or do you feel like you have to join us?" She questioned back, though once again she was sure she knew that answer. She tried not to get too discouraged about her interrupted walk, she had to make this a positive situation, she reasoned when something moved from the males fur, a little snake poking out her head and the Anima instantly softened.
"Oh Ghale, what a pleasure to see you." She smiled softly and under her Wynd shuffled, eyeing the snake suspiciously. Seeing this Silver gave the badger a pop on his head with her paw, reminding him to be kind. Wynd grunted, shooting his partner a dirty look befoer leaning forward towards Ghale, nose twitching.

Mikhail Though he wasn't looking directly at her, Mikhail could feel Silver's apprehension dissipate when she caught sight of Ghale. A subtle shift and her smile was more genuine, more bright. Mikhail said nothing as his tafa approached her and Wynd, struggling through the snow towards them with her tongue flicking out happily until, without permission or warning, she tried to climb onto the badger as if to get closer to Silver. Oh, gods- "Ghale, some respect..."His warning plea fell on deaf ears. Typical. He might have just snatched her back up, if they were in different company, but Silver wasn't someone you hid your tafa from, impolite little snake or not. As the scene played out before him, Mikhail took a moment to consider what she'd just asked a moment before. It had almost seemed like a confession, and he wasn't expecting that for many reasons. The crease in his brow deepened as he watched her, and perhaps his expression felt more judgmental than he was meaning it to but he didn't care to correct it. "No," he finally replied. How strange that the simple word felt dishonest on his lips, considering it was certainly the truth. He had nightmares about being separated from Au'Dar, for the gods' sake. "No, never. But clearly you do." He meant for it to be a small, offhand comment. Mikhail could guess why she'd feel that way after all, he wasn't stupid. Everyone coped with the stresses of life in their own way, he only wished hers, as the Anima especially, wasn't so dangerous. Silver wasn't weak by any definition, but she was incredibly important. Didn't she think of that? And had she always looked so... vulnerable? Or was that just because of the slightly troubled look she was wearing, and the fact that the flurrying snow made it hard to discern her edges in it's haze? Mikhail had to stop himself from grinding his teeth before he could even settle on an answer. "You want to join us? Or do you feel like you have to join us?" As she refocused on him she frowned, looking put down. It made him pause. "I 'want' to do my job, Miss" he said. Squinting, Mikhail tried to decide what exactly Silver's angle was here. She didn't know him, and he didn't know her, and it never mattered what Mikhail wanted or felt; he was a servant to the pack and to his superiors, of which she was certainly both. That was why he was here. Reasoning that Silver was probably this was with everyone, the Warrior hoped that whatever possessed her to pretend to care about him would be exorcised soon, because this was strange and he never was a fan of strange. He almost wanted to come out and say that it was alright if she treated him like the rest of the pack did, he wouldn't hold it against her. This wasn't anything special. Instead, after a few moments of brooding, he settled on something else. "Anima Silver, I understand you want to be alone. If you'd prefer it then I will follow a few paces behind you and your tafa, but I refuse to leave you out here without protection. Such is my job, isn't it?" From the corner of his eye Mikhail saw Ghale pause her antics to peek back at him and the lack of politeness in his tone. Mikhail, for what it was worth, tried to school away some of the harshness on his face. Whether it was a successful attempt or not was really not his concern. Bri

I don't wanna live for nothing Wynd kept his beady eyes on Ghale, though stayed still as the little snake slithered on him. Silver wasn't sure what he tafa was thinking, this was outside of his usual behavior, but she didn't make comment, instead enjoying a rare moment of softness from the grumpy badger. "It's alright," Silver said to Mikhail, keeping her eyes on their two tafa, her voice soft. Outside the realm of their pack such an interaction would be impossible but within the boundaries of the Au'Dar it was more common than not, it was something that inspired her work and her admiration for these creatures that broke away from the natural callings, only Mikhails voice brought her attention away from the tafa's and her gaze turned to the brooding male and his sudden, quick response.
Instead of being taken aback by his reply, she only smiled. Of course he wouldn't want to get away, many wolves didn't, they seemed to see all of Au'Dar as a place of paradise and she considered them lucky for being content, not plagued with the desires for more. How easy life would be if her curiosity didn't call for her to see what else was out in the world, making her different from the others, having her feel like she didn't belong.
Silver didn't have a chance to make comment on his wanting to his job. She knew everyone had a duty, but she wanted to know what it was that drove them behind that. Who was someone other than their rank?
"Follow behind me?" She responded, a hint of laughter in her tone, though she shifted a little at his formality. She should have been used to it by now, but it still made her skin crawl beneath her fur as her mind whispered to her that she didn't deserve it. She had never been good enough for her family, how could she be good enough for her pack? "Since you must stay with me for protection, then you might as well walk at my side." She continued, not letting his tone push her away, for a moment it reminded her of her childhood, it was how she was regularly spoken to though it did amuse her, it had been a while but she had confidence she could defend herself against a potential threat, though perhaps she was thinking to highly of herself.

Mikhail Mikhail fell back into silence after his protests, wind whipping against his face and forcing him to squint to keep a good eye on Silver. She dismissed his concerns about their tafas, and seemed absorbed while watching them - a completely different wolf compared to the one from just moments before. Her love, or admiration, or whatever it was that she felt for them that Mikhail would not name for her, was evident even through the weather that obscured her face. He, on the other hand, felt frozen in anticipation. Tension pulled at his temples and already he had more arguments at the tip of his tongue. Disparity was just something he'd come to predict when trying to reason with others, purely just from being himself for so many years. And yet those arguments died on his tongue in the next moment... leaving their sour taste in his mouth. Silver wasn't pressing him. Instead she chuckled lightly, at which Mikhail could only slightly drop his jaw. "Follow behind me? Since you must stay with me for protection, then you might as well walk at my side." There was a pause. Mikhail's eyes flashed, and then he nodded. Perhaps seeing Wynd and Ghale was enough to soothe the Anima into amiability, despite his company. Such was the only conclusion Mikhail could draw in that moment, feeling so out of his depth so suddenly. He raised a paw to gesture for Silver to lead them back onto whatever path she'd abandoned. He had to collect himself. Getting his way for once was a good thing. "Very well."Mikhail cleared his throat. Something was possessing him to speak again, a freakish impulse he would be the first to admit, as it was even more freakish for him to feel. Perhaps he just couldn't leave things alone. "So... do you make this a habit? Coming out here?" He kept his head low and fixed forward as he walked, trying to ignore the foreign hum of awkwardness crawling under his skin, if awkwardness was what you could call it. A long breath clouded out in front of him, and he still didn't look at Silver, but he wondered if the same clement smile remained on her face, in the same way a deceptive indifference lingered on his. "Wynd didn't seem too on edge. Until now."Behind the two wolves, Ghale had paused to watch Mikhail carefully, studying. She had no care for how rare it was for her current perch to even be permitting her behavior; she was still planted atop Wynd, having entwined into his fur as if they were old friends. After a beat she looked away from the wolves and refocused on him. With a minute thud her head landed at the top of his, and she slithered forward so that she may peer into the grumpy face of the other tafa, albeit upside down, her tongue poking out happily in thanks for him keeping her away from the snow. She glanced at his Silver and her Mikhail, hoping he would continue his tolerance and make sure they didn't get left far behind. Bri

I don't wanna live for nothing His agreement surprised her, she had prepared for him to argue with her about why he should follow behind instead of at her side though it more so surprised her when he agreed and gestured for her to continue. She swung her head in the direction and resumed her walk, though the air bit at her nose she enjoyed the numbing feeling. To feel something, anything, reminded her that she was lucky to be alive. She had no reason to feel like this but the melancholy thoughts followed her wherever she went and the only thing that seemed to help her was to remind herself to be thankful.
Silver assumed they would walk in silence but once again he surprised her by speaking. "Only when I can justify taking a break from my duties." She answered, ears twitching towards him. "Which isn't often, but enough to keep me sane." She part joked, she adored her position in the pack but not having the freedom to roam made her feel like she wasn't really doing anything with her live. She had a limited number of years left in her life and she wanted to spend her time enjoying it, seeing the world and what it had to offer outside of her responsibilities. Perhaps it made her careless but she wanted to think that it made her passionate. "Oh Wynd, don't mind him he's always been a disagreeable fellow," she cast a glance back at Wynd, watching as he stared at Ghale who was leaning over his head, his eyes slightly crossing as he focused on the smaller being, "though it seems that he doesn't mind the company of Ghale."
Wynd continued to focus on Ghale, finding the little creature fascinating though when Ghale looked towards their wolves the badger snapped out of his trance, starting to trudge along to keep up with them, but even his steps were careful, not wanting to dislodge the reptile and make her fall to the ground.
