The Vertok live in the northeast in the former territory of the Sanzin. They have the smallest territory of the three packs. It is a land of vast mountain ranges and rolling hills and valleys. The mountains spread out across the north and northeast of the territory while the valleys and hills take up the rest of the territory. A small forest covers the lower slopes of the territory and a mountain spring provides clean water for the wolves to drink. A few small offshoots of the river wind their way through the forest often ending abruptly. The mountains themselves are packed with cave systems, many of which have yet to be explored.

Den Sites
The pack dens can be found in the largest and most central of the caves. A tunnel wide enough to fit four or five wolves side to side leads into the cave system. It contains various smaller branches most of which end in dead ends. A few are known to lead somewhere but the exact destinations of each is unknown.
The main tunnel exits out into a large central keep where the Pawns sleep. From there stretch four more tunnels; one center, two to the left, and two to the right. The center-most tunnel leads to the King and Queen's chamber while the two tunnels on the right lead to the Rooks's chambers and the Knights's chambers. The tunnel to the left of the King and Queen's leads to a large chamber for the Bishops. The left-most tunnel leads to the storage chambers where food and the pack's hides are kept. The chambers are filled with moss, grass, and other plants to make for easier sleeping.
Central Keep
A general meeting and hangout place in the dens and where the pawns, with the exception of nursing and pregnant mothers, sleep. A large open space, one of the tunnels leads outside while the rest lead to the Rook's, Knight's, Bishop's and King and Queen's chambers
Rook’s Chambers
The sleeping and hangout place of the Rooks. The rightmost tunnel leads to it. The pathway there is winding and requires jumping due to an elevated section. A large crack about one wolf wide can be found about a third of the way in.
It is smaller than the Bishop's Chamber and the Central Keep. About equal in size to the Knight's Chamber and larger than the King and Queen's Chamber. The cave itself contains a variety of raised ledges here and there.
Knight’s Chambers
The sleeping place and hangout of the Knights. Located to the left of the Rook's Chamber and to the right of the King and Queen's Chamber, it is a smaller version of the Central Keep. While the Rook's Chamber requires passage through a winding tunnel to reach, the Knight's is separated from the Central Keep by just a wall.
Larger than the King and Queen's Chambers, smaller than the Bishop's Chambers and the Central Keep, it is about the same size as the Rook's Chambers. The cave itself is wider than it is long. A crack in the floor runs about halfway down the middle of the cave. The crack is not large enough that jumping over it is required but caution still needs to be taken not to get injured by it.
Bishop’s Chambers
The sleeping and hangout place of the Bishops. Located to the left of the King and Queen's Chamber, it is one of the larger areas. A short, wide tunnel leads to the Chamber.
Within the cave, there are groves in the wall for medicine storage. The cave contains a lowered section where the Bishop's patients sleep. Bishops, nursing and pregnant mothers all sleep in the Bishop's Chamber along with any sick or injured wolves.
King and Queen’s Chambers
The place where the King and Queen sleep and where meetings are held. Located centrally, it is between the Knight's and Bishop's Chambers. There is a raised platform near the back. It is the smallest of all the caves. A section of the wall is cracked and crumbly. Due to that, it is warned not to get too close to that section in the event of a collapse.

Caves
The mountains house a multitude of cave systems. Many have yet to be completely explored making it quite likely that a wolf will get lost if they wander in without a plan. No one quite knows what's in these cave systems, if the Sanzin knew, they neglected to inform the Vertok. Take caution when exploring the caves, one doesn't want to be lost forever.

Mountain Spring A clean, freshwater spring can be found hidden within the mountains. It has been never known to freeze.
It is quite difficult to find for those unfamiliar with the lands, but the Vertok are easily able to find its location. All Vertok are shown its location and are often escorted there the first few times they visit due to how easily the spring can be overlooked.
The spring itself seeps from a crack in the mountain. It nestles in a hollow carved out by a time when the spring was larger. Heavily hidden by foliage and spiny plants resilient to life on the mountain, one could easily pass over the location without ever knowing it was there.
There are whispers that the spring comes from a larger lake hidden in the mountains but no one is quite sure if that's true. Deeper exploration of the nearby caves would be needed and that is quite dangerous.
