- Raven -
The stars were beginning to sparkle overheard, the sky filled with colour as the sun sank further beyond the horizon. Lifting her nose to sniff the air, Raven tried her best to take in the surroundings. This place was still so new to her; she had set paw in the valley only a day ago. It seemed like a promising land so far, but she knew so little about it. The best places to hunt, potential threats, the local packs... there was just so much to learn.
Noticing no new scents on the breeze, she lowered her head and sighed. She had never thought surviving on her own would be easy, but despite her best efforts, she knew she had never been truly prepared. Sure, she was getting by okay, but she could tell she had lost weight on the journey, and if she didn’t get used to the locations of prey soon, she knew it would begin to wear at her strength. As she glanced around to see if she could notice anything her nose had failed to detect, a dark shape flickering overheard suddenly caught her attention. A crow! Instinctively, she took a couple of steps in its direction, and as it flew further across the star-specked sky, she found herself beginning to follow. Before long, she broke into a run, suddenly afraid of being left behind. She knew the corvid would have an exceptional view from up there; perhaps it could lead her to something, such as food. Yet, deep down, she knew that wasn’t the only reason she was following.
Raven realised the crow was drawing her nearer to pack lands; she had noticed the scent before, but now it was stronger. Her thoughts began to race, first with curiosity, then apprehension. She had no idea how friendly or aggressive the pack might be. Knowing the border couldn't be far ahead, she gradually slowed her pace before coming to a halt. Still the crow flew on. "Wait..." Her voice was soft as she watched it fly over the trees, far beyond her reach. She knew there was no hope of catching up to it now. She was alone again. …Or so it seemed.

She knew she should be asleep, she had a long day ahead of her tomorrow but Silver couldn't bring herself to deny the freedom that the night offered her. When the stars and moon were in the sky she was able to wander the lands of her pack and occasionally cross the border without being caught by another or questioned as to why she wasn't helping the Tafa or leaving her den at all. She loved her role as the Anima and her ability to help her back but at the same time she felt...trapped within that job with every eye on her, as if waiting for her to make a mistake while deep down she wondered...was this where she was meant to be?
With these thoughts plaguing her she left her den, Wynd at her side, and made her way quietly through the Au'Dar pack, careful to make the least amount of sound possible. At least in this time she could relax just for a moment but that allowed her mind to wander, remembering her last encounter with Leocadio, making her brows furrow. Try as she might she struggled to understand him and continued to struggle as to why it mattered to her so much to try to understand the brooding male. Attempting to ignore those thoughts she continued with her walk, growing closer to the border when the sound of wings met her ears, making her look up as a grow glided across the sky as if without a care in the world, making her smile a little...until something like a voice seemed to drift across the breeze, making her stiffen. Before she could react Wynd was off, ducking under the brush with a growl-as if he was the only being who could protect the land. With a roll of her eyes Silver followed after him, thinking that if there was a thread she, with her history, could take care of it. She followed her badgers scent when another mingled in the air until she finally came to a stop, spotting another wolf, causing a growl to rumble from her chest. "You're either very brave or very foolish to have made your way here." She warned, taking up a standing position behind Wynd and eyed the stranger.

- Raven -
Once the crow had flown out of sight, Raven lowered her head a little, letting the calmness of the night wash over her as she thought about the situation. She had thought she liked being alone, but now she just felt lost. Still, she knew there was no use in dwelling on it. She was about to turn away from the border, when the sound of a growl suddenly caught her attention. Immediately her gaze flicked to the potential threat, her pale yellow eyes appearing almost silver in the twilight.
Before her were two creatures; one was a fellow wolf, her fur bright like the moon, whilst the other appeared to be a badger. Raven took a step back as the wolf spoke, but she quickly reminded herself not to let her uncertainty show. She assumed this wolf was from the pack, and she didn't want to risk inviting a chase.
After casting a look at the badger to make sure it wasn't about to attack, she dipped her head to the wolf. "I do not mean to intrude," she assured. She looked up to meet the wolf's gaze, trying to read her expression. With any luck, she would decide a fight wasn't worth her time, and allow her to go back the way she had come without a fuss. Whilst she waited for the wolf's response, Raven took another look at the badger. An aggressive creature, it seemed, and yet... it appeared to be a companion of the pack wolf, by the way they had seemingly arrived together. She had never seen anything like it.

Silver tensed, sure that this stranger was about to run from her. If that was the case she'd have to give chase to ensure they fully left the territory, it was her duty, even though she wasn't a huge fan of the hostility. Living in a place as closed off as the Au'Dar territory was weighing on her, making her antsy, but she had a role to perform, an important one. She couldn't just run off or pick and choose what rules to follow but then again...Her eyes cut from side to side, confirming that no one else had caught wind of the strangers scent and had come to investigate. Perhaps she could bend the rules this one time...
"If you don't mean to intrude then why are you here?" She asked, voice taking on a formal tone. In front of her Wynd grumbled, pawing at the brush as if he was going to charge and knowing the badger it was a possibility. Where Silver's temper was relatively even Wynd was ready to snap at any moment. Her mentor had told her that a wolf and Tafa's bond was like a delicate balancing act where one balanced the other, but sometimes Silver wished her partner was just a bit more...thoughtful. "It is very dangerous for you to be in these lands." She warned for the longer they stayed here the more they risked being caught.

- Raven -
"If you don't mean to intrude then why are you here?" The stranger's words caught Raven off guard. She hasn't had time to think of a convincing way to explain. She shuffled a paw slightly, somewhat embarrassed by the truth.
"I was following a bird," she admitted, lifting her gaze to meet the other wolf's once more. Within moments however, she was looking back at the badger, who didn't seem to be nearly as calm as its companion. Raven let her muscles tense, so that she could easily spring out of its reach if the creature did decide to attack. As fearsome as it looked, it was still just a badger; a stocky creature that would have trouble landing a hit on an agile wolf, so long as they were prepared.
The wolf warned her about danger, and for a moment, Raven wanted to comment about the badger's hostility, but thought better of it. If the two really were allies, saying anything against the other might not work in her favour. Instead, she just sighed. "I have not yet crossed the border," she pointed out. She knew she was very close, and she had no idea how pack border markers worked in this land, but she hoped that fact would be worth something. "I can turn back if you would prefer," she added, unable to stop her gaze from drifting to the badger again. "But..." Raven hesitated, unsure if she should continue, yet the curiosity was overwhelming. "May I ask about this badger?" The question came more suddenly than she had intended, and for a moment she was worried she sounded like an excitable pup, but she shook the thought away with a soft smile. "This is all very new to me, that's all. I can leave if I must."

A bird? Silver's gaze flickered upwards but she didn't see a bird, perhaps she had missed it or perhaps it wasn't there at all though something, some kind of feeling, whispered to her that that wasn't the case. She wasn't sensing any malice as she turned her attention back to the girl before her. "You haven't crossed the border but my pack...does not approve of anyone drawing near, it's dangerous to toe the line." She warned, watching as the other looked at Wynd, seeming to perk up as she threw out her question, further softening the Anima's demeanor.
"His name is Wynd," she explained with a gentler tone, leaning down and nudging the back of the still grumbling beasts head, causing him to spin, glaring up at her. She returned his look of ire with amusement and fondness on her face. "Oh stop you curmudgeon," she chided before looking back at the stranger, momentarily hesitating.
"If you wish to know about him," she said slowly, "perhaps...we could move farther from the border and I will answer your questions to the best of my ability." She knew it was risky but she felt that she wasn't doing anything that was incredibly dangerous, she didn't sense any aggression or scent others readying a trap.

- Raven -
"His name is Wynd." Raven watched curiously as the stranger introduced the badger to her. She couldn't help but be impressed; she wouldn't dare get so close to the creature when it appeared to be just moments away from attacking. She took note of the affection the stranger seemed to show towards it, and the way the badger tolerated her company. They definitely seemed to be companions of sorts, and she guessed the badger - no, Wynd - simply had more bark than bite. Or in this case, more growl than bite. Already, Raven felt that she was piecing together a bit about the pack, and it only fuelled her curiosity further.
She was about to say something when the pack wolf continued, making an offer that caught her by surprise. Immediately, her instincts told her it was a bad idea; she had just met this wolf, and didn't want to intrude on the pack without good reason. Yet, when she looked into the stranger's eyes, she got the feeling she could trust her, and if she declined, she would just be on her own again. Who was she to turn down an opportunity to learn about a new pack and its seemingly unique culture?
"Only if that is alright," Raven said at last. Letting herself relax a little - physically, at least - she carefully padded a little closer to the wolf, taking care not to provoke Wynd too much. "My name is Cassidy," she explained, offering a small smile, "but most just call me Raven." She hoped getting the introductions out of the way would help them feel a little more comfortable around each other. Letting the stranger take the lead, she could only hope she wasn't being led into danger, and yet still, she couldn't help feeling excited. Perhaps this was the first step towards finding out whether she would feel at home in the valley.

Silver watched as the young girl seemed to start connecting the dots, a smile threatening to spill on her maw but she kept it back, her face remaining stoic. "My name is Silver, and as you already know, this ragamuffin is Wynd, it is...good to meet you." She ventured to add, not sending danger from the girl before her. "Follow me." She stepped past the dark pelted wolf, taking steps in the direction away from the pack lands. Farther away hopefully meant less of a chance of being caught by a guard.
She walked in silence for a few moments before her curiosity peaked. "You were following a bird," she started, "but otherwise...what drew you here? Where are you from?" She asked, unable to scent a near by pack on Raven and wondered if she was truly a lone wanderer. That type of life sounded lonely but also...freeing...how many times had that idea crossed her mind? She'd had dreams of running past the borders and never coming back but her sense of duty kept her here, chained, trying to make the best of it even though some days were harder than the last.
