Craters Among Flowers

Beneath the shade of a solitary tree on the plains slumbered the small form of a Sanzin pup. Having bored of the bustles of the den site, Helva had opted to move to a more isolated location. The lass had fallen asleep immersed deeply in the tree's light shade, but as the day wore on, the shadows moved to reveal her lidded eyes to the blistering heat of the sun. Beneath the insistent rays of the pestering sun, the unknown princess' eyes flickered. At last, they opened to sleep-fogged eyes underlined with a deep irritation. Raising her head, she peered over the territory as if looking for the one that dared wake her.

Yawning, Helva laid there for a moment. Her eyes lazily trailed over the grassland. In the distance, indiscernible movement caught her attention. She watched the swaying grasses for a second, then, languidly, she stretched. Standing, her gaze tracked the new discovery. Slowly, she descended from her resting spot and began to half-heartedly track whatever walked the plains. Nearing her prey, she pounced. Breaking through the reeds, she was greeted by the surprised face of a rabbit which quickly darted away. Landing amidst a cloud of dust, she watched the rodent dash away. A touch upset to have found nothing of interest.
