[googlefont="Aboreto"][googlefont="Spectral"] [attr="class","hollowrandompostingicon"][attr="class","cp cp-aloe-vera"] [attr="class","hollowpostingnametitle"]HOLLOW Was it strange to, as a wolf, prefer the company of plants over your own kind? Where wolves were loud, emotional, and overbearing, plants were calm, solitary, and silent. Or at least that was the way that most viewed them. Plants didn’t have audible voices, nor were they often perceived as having emotions, but they were still of the living. They had necessities for survival; it was visibly clear when they were thriving, and when they were dying. Just like wolves and other creatures, their health and well-being were affected by their environment and the others of their kind around them. Even a single tall tree with a looming shadow could bring benefits or disadvantages to a given plant. Much like wolves…
Pale honey eyes narrowed, glaring to the side in the general direction he knew the primary densite to be. A single being casting a shadow large enough to bring those around them crashing down. A rather familiar concept to him, unfortunately. Culture and order were things that wolf packs relied on to keep them standing, to keep them whole. To his knowledge, even the barbarians in the south had some form of understanding that they followed. And while some traditions were futile in purpose and reason, they often brought those who followed them together, in some sense or another.
She believes that breaking our way of life will somehow make us stronger. If anything, all she has done is divide us. A low growl escaped from his throat, his tuft of neck fur ruffling against his chin and chest. The dark canine turned his attention back to his paws where a grouping of feather-shaped plants grew all around in bunches, their muted green shades standing out just a tad against the more diminished yellow-green grass. Sage wasn’t exactly a rare plant by any means, and Hollow knew with certainty that there was plenty of it in the Gardens. But it was far more peaceful to watch over the herbs that weren’t growing in the Gardens, as these ones felt more…wild.
A faint gust of wind swirled through the dark pines that surrounded the small clearing, brushing through his fur almost in small waves, the trees faint rustling finding his ears. His eyes closed, breathing in the air that brought with it the scent of the pine and of the distant fields. Though it was just wind, the movement of the foliage it caused was almost comforting, as though it was momentarily giving the plants the voices he wished they had. But even without voices, being surrounded by herbs and trees and bushes, he could feel them, as though their spirits were whispering to him.
Sharp ears perked suddenly and the varying lengths of fur along his spine rose, a new scent suddenly mixing with the wind. His gaze snapped open, scanning slowly around him but remaining in place. A louder rustle of plants to the side caught his attention and his head turned, eyes narrowing further and tail fluffing in alert. Someone else was here… [attr="class","hollowrandompostingicon"][attr="class","cp cp-aloe-vera"] [attr="class","hollowpostingfootertitle"]THE DARK SCHOLAR [newclass=.hollowpostingnametitle]background: linear-gradient(to bottom, #2b543f, #78ba8c); -webkit-text-fill-color: transparent; -webkit-background-clip: text;font-family:aboreto;font-size:95px;color:white;z-index: 1; position: relative;margin-top:-140px;text-shadow: 0 0 10px black;[/newclass] [newclass=.hollowrandompostingicon]font-size: 150px; color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.0); -webkit-text-stroke: 1px #42604b; background: linear-gradient(to bottom, #131716, #3b5a4a); -webkit-text-fill-color: transparent; -webkit-background-clip: text;opacity:0.8;[/newclass] [newclass=.hollowpostingfootertitle]background: linear-gradient(to bottom, #2b543f, #78ba8c); -webkit-text-fill-color: transparent; -webkit-background-clip: text;font-family:aboreto;font-size:45px;color:white;z-index: 1; position: relative;margin-top:-110px;text-shadow: 0 0 10px black;letter-spacing:2px;[/newclass]

[googlefont="Spectral"] The day has come and the wolves have begun to gather. The first to arrive and the guides of the group, Lord Timber and a few members of her guild wait for the rest of their companions of the packs to arrive. But they find that, rather than the pack wolves arriving first, a few loners of whom were invited by members of the guild to assist arrive first. As they join with the guild, the others begin to arrive, the Vertok arriving first, followed by the Au'Dar and the Sanzin at the same time. With all of the wolves of each group brought together, plus a few extras, the time has come to find and destroy the dam.
Reminders
- Every member's first post in this thread are regular posts describing the characters arriving at the meeting place and everyone moving together up the mountain and finding the dam. The rest of the posts in the thread will be attacking the dam and will be short and quick, their content determined by the dice rolls. Those posts do not have a word count, they just need the dice number rolled and a quick description of what happens.
- Dice Rolls // Everyone rolls 1-20 in the dice thread. The number you roll determines how much damage you do and how effective your methods are. The higher the number, the more successful. The lower the number, the more likely you are to get hurt and/or fail miserably. Everyone can choose how the rolls impact the result.
- The dam has a health bar for the wolves to diminish. When the bar reaches 0, the dam will burst. The dam has 300 health to start.
- Note: Characters can still interact with and help each other throughout the thread in the short posts, as long as any form of powerplaying is avoided unless given permission.
- There is no word count requirement for any of the posts. They can be quick and short or longer and more detailed.
- Extra: At the bottom of this post there is a code for a small template that everyone may use in their attack posts. It is not required that you use it. It's just a basic little template to keep things simple and to the point. Feel free to use it, or use your own.
- For the sake of keeping the thread going at a steady pace, we are placing a general three-day limit to posting replies. If the person meant to post before you has not done so in 3 days, you have permission to skip over them.
Or if you yourself do not think that you can get a post up before needed, you may choose to be skipped beforehand.
Dice Rolling Thread: Link
Order The general order members take turns in is determined by character pack and rank. If you entered the event with more than 1 wolf, you still put both wolves in 1 post.
- Bri // Timber (M)
- Burn // Coa (M), Cal (V)
- Jay // Dante (L), Othis (S)
- Zawki // Axel (L)
- icea // Adeleine (L)
- Molo // Hawk (V)
- Cheshire // Leo (A)
- Razza // Mikhail (A)
- Abyss // Nesta (S) & Progress Update
- Order of arrival by group: Mercurior, Loners, Vertok, Au'Dar/Sanzin
- Even if you have 2 wolves in one post, the order of arrival is still the same, so even if the wolves before yours have not had posts yet, they are there.
- It is assumed by the packs that the loners are members of the guild

[googlefont="Caveat"] NAVI [attr="class","Naviclassscrollbar"] She had been chasing down this rabbit for way longer than she wished to admit. Despite it being so skinny and clearly malnourished, if not also thirsty, this bunny knew what he was doing. He had managed to twist around suddenly and leap out of her grasp at least a couple times already, and she didn’t know whether to feel annoyed or impressed. She was a natural-born rabbit hunter, so it was both fun and angering at the same time when she managed to come across the ones that were a lot more clever than the rest.
Small pale paws carried her across each hill that this rabbit ran, but he was bolting for the even longer grasses further in. Her brows furrowed but her mouth dropped open in a wide smile, determined to catch him in an area with less visibility. Both of them disappeared into the yellow grasses, and though she could only just barely catch him in glimpses of movement, she was right on him.
For a split moment, something caught in her nose, a new scent that wasn’t rabbit. But she was right on him. She leaped, neck craning down and snatching the rabbit at last. But just as she landed, the grasses were coming to an end, and she saw a brightly-colored figure just ahead. She attempted to slow her momentum, and she was successful for the most part, but not entirely. Her paws skidded across the ground, and while she did not completely crash into this other creature, she still bumped into them as she came to a stop.
Navi blinked a few times before she side-stepped away from the other wolf, turning her head with an almost guilty toothy grin on her face.
“Oop! Sorry ‘bout that! This lil bugger was a quick one, kept tryin’ to be sneaky and get away.” She spoke in a half-muffled chuckle through the dead rabbit’s scruff, only then actually opening her sage-colored eyes to find that this other wolf was a somewhat larger male, a tad bigger than herself, with quite the bright pelt. But while his fur was practically blinding, it wasn’t his fur that her attention remained on, as she took notice of something else rather peculiar. The side of the brute that she had bumped into, his face was…different. Rather than her sights meeting the sights of another, she instead found that the eye she initially looked into was nearly pure foggy white, adorned with multiple longer and thinner lines on which there was no fur.
She blinked multiple times and her jaw just barely went agape, allowing the dead rabbit to fall from her maw. She took a step forward, visibly moving and tilting her head as though she were investigating the brute’s face. “Woah. That’s one helluva scar!”

[googlefont="Caveat"] NAVI [attr="class","Naviclassscrollbar"] It seemed that she was in luck, running into the second wolf of the day. She couldn’t deny that she was excited, as the first wolf she had encountered today had been a rather friendly and humorous little male who…she…thought…she remembered the name of…it didn’t matter, she was meeting someone new!
Seeing this wolf approach, the details were hard to make out in the dark, but from what she gathered from the scent she vaguely caught this was another male. And, just from the dark silhouette she could see, he was a bit bulkier than the first. She also spotted a pair of light-colored eyes in the dark, ones that she only assumed were friendly.
The male greeted her with a deeper voice and an accent, one almost like her own, but maybe a bit thicker. He seemed friendly enough, maybe she’d be lucky and have yet another kind-hearted conversation.
“Runnin’ through a big ol field with the stars above your head is always a fine night forra stroll.” The femme turned and lifted her head, sage-colored gaze looking to the little bright dots in the sky. Though, admittedly, she was a tad disappointed, her maw shifting into more of a sideways frown. So many times she had seen the sky full of bright color in the past, but she had not seen that yet in her little bit of time here.
“I just wish it was brighter up there, tonight anyway. I’ve seen the night sky be fulla bright blues and even brighter stars, always so pretty.” Navi’s head tilted to the side a bit, turning just enough to side-eye the brute who stood alongside her. “Ey, you live round here? Yur sky ever look like that?”

[googlefont="Caveat"] NAVI [attr="class","Naviclassscrollbar"] A toothy grin crossed the autumn-pelted femme’s face watching this guy’s facial expressions shift as he spoke. She felt lucky that the very first fellow wolf she had encountered since arriving to this valley was a friendly one, or at least he seemed to be anyway. He vaguely gave her the impression of the young childhood friend nextdoor that you play with all the time as pups. Too bad she didn’t actually know him prior to today, or that would be a pretty fun coincidence.
Creative, he called her. Her tail and chest fluffed up a tad at the statement, a slight wiggle in her head aiding her smile. “Well of course. We tree sprites gotta be crafty to climb trees, but we’ve got some funky minds too.” She chuckled, knowing that despite the metaphor, if any wolf could call their own mind funky, it was undoubtedly herself. A wolf in a tree was already pretty weird, or at least most wolves she had met told her so. She didn’t think so, but maybe she was just more clever than they were.
He claimed that he did best on the ground, which made sense. Technically she did too, she just had a fondness for trees. Tilting her head a smidge, curiosity got the best of her as he sat down, her own paws moving to let her leap down the last few branches. Just as they touched the ground, her pale green gaze flicked to the male, blinking a few times at the realization that she was taller than he was. Not by much, but still. As far as she could tell, their builds were quite similar, so her mind switched its focus to wondering if he was as much of a field-racer as she was…
She let a visible pout cross her maw at his words, shaking her head in almost disappointment. How could his name not be Porcupine? He had to be mistaken. But she listened anyway, ears flicking at the name Dante. She was silent at first after he asked of her own name, and her expression shifted to almost seeming deep in thought. And then she laughed.
“Naaaah, that don’t seem quite right. I feel like somethin’ like…Dhole…or maybe….Dingo. Somethin’ like that, they'd suit chu better.” She shook her head, coming back to what he had asked. “I am Navi of the tree sprites, newbie to the valley and ambassador of…some faraway land with no name.” Her toothy grin returned, giving the brute a quick glance-over and finally taking a moment to take in his scent. He didn’t particularly smell like other wolves, as far as she could tell anyway. But she also didn’t exactly know if there were any packs around for him to be from.
“So, whaddya know about this valley? Anythin’ I should know about? I haven’t really done much explorin’ yet, but I think I’ve caught whiff of other wolves once or twice.”

[googlefont="Aboreto"][googlefont="Dosis"] | Basics Name: Nesta Age: 6 Years Gender: Female [She/Her] Sexuality: Hetero Pack: Sanzin Rank: Hunter Queen Adoptable: Yes |
| Appearance 35" | 85 lbs. An all-around average she-wolf with strong legs built for hunting and strong jaws for landing killing blows on prey. Her fur is shorter on her face and legs, but longer over the rest of her body, especially her tail. Her pelt is a mixture of many shades of brown, tan, off-white, black, gray, and a touch of auburn. Her nose is pure black, her eyes are a pale shade of yellow-green, and she has a dark scar along the bridge of her nose. |
Relationships Drad || 10 of Diamonds | Mate Mates only by necessity, Nesta and Drad don't hold any love for each other. They plan to have kids simply for pack numbers. Lakrin || 5 of Diamonds | Son The oldest of her first litter and so far the quickest to progress through the ranks. They don't talk much, and when they do it is brief. Macha || 3 of Hearts | Daughter Her second-born in her first litter. Due to the fact that the family is full of more combat-driven wolves, she doesn't really speak to Macha much. Durzin || 2 of Spades | Son The runt of her first litter. Despite not being a Spade herself, and Durzin being the smallest, she spends the most time with him. | Personality + Stoic + Dedicated + Family-Oriented + Natural Leader | - Temperamental - Judgmental - Arrogant - Narcissistic |
When it comes to the Sanzin, Nesta is both the perfect example and a horrible one of what the Sanzin is usually expected to be like. She is an arrogant and short-tempered wolf who believes in the value of physical strength being the best measure of power. In most scenarios, she acts as though she is the only wolf that matters, and that none of her packmates truly matter in the end. She takes her job seriously and, just as is typical, she does all the work while her King counterpart does nothing. She only gives her loyalty to those she deems worthy, which isn't very many wolves, so she acts very cold and heartless towards most, giving commands to those beneath her and snapping at any who try to defy her. But, in truth, she does care for her family members more than anyone else and she is loyal to her job and her position. She knows she is capable of being the Queen, and so she does, and she does it well. Just as well, she knows that she has enough natural authority that her hunters will follow her lead, or at least recognize that she is intelligent in hunting enough to pay attention to what she has to say. She cares about the pack enough to hunt for them and lead them, but she also sees them as ungrateful dogs. |
History - Birth // Born a single child to a pair of older Sanzin Clubs.
- Puphood // Most of her childhood was spent "hunting" the other Zeros and getting practice in, as she was determined to be a high ranking Club when she got older and wanted to be the best hunter out of them all.
- Yearling // She became a 1 of Clubs when she hit a year old, and she spent pretty much the whole year hunting, mostly on her own, so that she could build her skills for the future.
- 2 Years // By the time she hit 2 Nesta was a great hunter as an individual, but she still needed to get better at hunting as a group. So she started to hunt with others of the same age. Over time she naturally became one of the better hunters when it came to the killing blows.
- 3 Years // She continued training to hunt and hit an 8 of Clubs by the time she was half way through 3. She knew she wanted to get higher in the ranks, at least a 10, but she started debating if she wanted more beyond that.
- 4 Years // She became a 10 of Clubs rather quickly, and it was around the time that she hit this milestone that she encountered Drad, a 10 of Diamonds. She knew of him previously, but he approached her, making it clear that he wasn't looking to become friends or anything like that. But her parents were the ones who encouraged her to approach him and attempt to form an agreement of sorts to have pups for the pack. She had wanted to have kids anyway, and she already didn't want an actual sappy mate bond, so she took the opportunity and so did he. A few months later, Nesta had a litter of 3, two males and one female.
- 5 Years // After turning 5, her pups were already 6 months and she had her sights set on a new goal. When the Chance Games came, she joined in and challenged the Queen of Clubs at that time, and she won. Serving as the Queen of Clubs, a part of her wondered if she should shoot higher, but she knew that Aces were usually just whoever the Suit liked most, and she didn't particularly like Idogras, so she stayed where she was. But pretty soon one of his own Aces challenged him during the Chance games and killed him, Artemis becoming the new Suit. Nesta was glad that he was gone, but she also doesn't particularly like Artemis, so she tends to just side-eye and avoid the big white she-wolf.
- 6 Years // Nesta still serves as the Queen of Clubs and still has a dislike for Artemis, as well as most of her Suits. She just focuses on her job and keeps an eye on how her kids are progressing in the pack.

[googlefont="Aboreto"][googlefont="Dosis"] | Basics Name: Nenalle Pronunciation: neh-nah-lee Age: 5 Years 3 Months Gender: Female [She/Her] Sexuality: Bi/Poly Pack: Au'Dar Rank: Garde Hunter | Tafa Neralis the Red Squirrel A little cutie who has just about as much energy as his wolf companion. Either he acts as a guardian for her, being cautious whereas she is not, or he is just as hyper and trouble-prone as she is. |
|
| Appearance 38" | 80 lbs. A tall and elegant lady, Nenalle is often admired physically by those around her for her uniqueness. Besides her height, as well as a slender and athletic body built for the hunt with plenty of curves, her fur is often quick to catch the attention of others. While most of her body is covered in somewhat shorter fur, her face, neck, and chest fur is all longer and has a natural flowy curl to it. Though you would think that curly fur would look rather messy when found on a wolf who is constantly running around, Nenalle has a fondness for grooming as often as possible, leaving her fur rather neat and wavy. In terms of color, a good majority of her pelt is dark auburn in color with much darker red and black on her ears, face, back, and tail. Beyond her reds and blacks, she also has white on her lower muzzle, stomach, and paws. A black nose and vibrant orange eyes full of mischief and scandal finish off her appearance. |
Relationships Visri || Healer Garde of Au'Dar | Mother She cares deeply for her mother, though the constant nagging to settle down and have a family tends to make her avoid her mom whenever she can. Lynar || Deceased Warrior Garde of Au'Dar | Father Her father was never around, and when he did come around she just ignored him, so his death didn't affect her much. Hollow || Avant Garde Healer of Au'Dar | Brother She adores her brother, but she especially loves annoying him to no end and always seeks to take up his time whenever she can. | Personality + Hard-Working + Charismatic + Unjudgmental + Free-Spirited | - Reckless - Daring - Careless - Sarcastic |
Ever since she was a pup Nenalle has always been known for her care-free nature, her energy, and her humor. Never one to take life too seriously, she enjoys having all the fun she can and leaving all the seriousness to the more boring wolves like her brother. She's a kind she-wolf with a big heart and an even bigger need for action and movement, hardly ever a gal to sit still for too long. She loves the freedom of running and engaging in hunts, using her energy for the good of the pack. But when she isn't out hunting, she spends most of her time grooming, socializing, or annoying her brother in his den. She also has a tendency to do a bit of casual flirting, though if she is asked, she doesn't consider herself "mate-material". Even with her love for fun and socialization, Nenalle has a knack for getting into trouble. With a hard head like a bull and a lack of fear in nearly all situations, she doesn't hold back what's on her mind, nor does she really think about consequences before she jumps to action. And even when she gets scolded, she usually just shrugs it off and gives a sarcastic remark. |
History - Birth // Nenalle was born to Garde Healer Visri and Warrior Garde Lynar, alongside a single brother, Hollow.
- Puphood // Much of her puphood was spent running around causing havoc, getting into trouble with the adults, playing tricks with the other pups, and annoying Hollow as much as possible.
- Yearling // When the time came, she became a Hunter Apprentice, went through the generals, and trained with her mentor for the required year.
- 2 Years // When she reached two years old and went through the Coming-of-Age Ceremony, she entered the Citadel alone and came out with her tafa, a partner that actually seemed to match her energy and drive, a red squirrel that she named Neralis. She then became an official Hunter Garde.

When it comes to Hollow, when they are at home she is nearly always by his side or somewhere in the den, often helping him organize or deliver herbs. When they leave home, she will typically follow along right at his side or lay on his back, but she will also follow close by in bushes and shadows if she is ordered or if something is off.

IRL Face Claim Credit goes to Stephanie Moon More Pictures:
A rather tall and elegant fellow, Hollow may not be the biggest wolf in terms of muscle mass, but intimidation seems to be a rather natural trait for him even without bulk. With an almost graceful movement in his steps and a head always held high, it is as though he is constantly looking down on those smaller than himself, whether in judgment or in appearance. What he lacks in bulk he makes up for in height, with long legs built for speed and a long body that glides with him.
In terms of pelt, his body is covered in medium-length deep black fur that grows shorter on his legs and face. While he is primarily black in color, many areas are flecked with lighter grays and browns that are mostly seen in certain brightness. Beyond these patches of speckled color, a primary marking that Hollow is most known for is a brightly-colored white stripe that begins at the end of his chin and extends down his jaw, neck, and chest, ending in a point just between his front legs.
This tall and lean brute’s dark features are accented with a pure black nose, black claws, and a pair of often narrow pale yellow eyes.

When it comes to the role of a healer, most may typically assume them to be gentle and heartfelt beings who chose their path for the sake of helping others. But that's…not how nearly anybody would describe Hollow. A very stoic and cold man by nature, he isn’t exactly as approachable as most would assume a healer should be. Besides the constant look of annoyance or disdain on his face, Hollow is more well known for having a rather short and impatient temper, his buttons easily pressed when done so in the right way. His patience for others is quite thin, especially when he is in the middle of trying to help them, so there’s plenty of wolves who try to avoid him as much as possible. When he is in a foul mood (and often when he isn’t as well), he has a tendency to be very blunt and completely honest, sometimes even insulting if the need for it presents itself. He tells things like they are, and if you don’t like it, then maybe you should’ve gotten help from someone else. And with that line in mind, it is worth noting that he’s also a bit…petty. Openly. If you act a certain way towards him, either he will act the same way back in the moment, or he will wait until the next time you need him, since more than likely you will eventually. And when that time comes, he will “treat” you with sarcastic remarks and reminders of back when you were rude. When it comes to being treated how you want to be treated, Hollow is a force to be reckoned with.
But, as much of a crab ass as Hollow is, no one in the pack could deny that he is a very smart wolf and, despite his rudeness, is great at his job. When it comes to memory and observation, he has those things down packed, able to analyze situations quickly and think of solutions for them to the best of his ability. When it comes to times of unease or panic, he is able to level his own head and keep his mind in his duty, surprisingly able to try and soothe others with his normally snippy voice. Even though most of the time he may appear to be in a bad mood, he isn’t constantly someone to avoid. While he may be overall better at the more healing and herbal side of his job, Hollow does know that sometimes an already stressful situation is handled far better with a bit less of the rudeness or snapping. No, he isn’t good at giving heartfelt speeches or giving affection or showing sappy emotion, but he is honest. Sometimes his honesty comes off as curt and insulting, but in his case it's also his way of helping. How are you supposed to handle a situation or improve yourself if you aren’t told directly what is wrong? No, he doesn’t tell you what you want to hear, but he does tell you what you need to hear, and if you ask him, the latter is worth way more. His people skills may not be great, but Hollow is a very dedicated and hard-working wolf who really does enjoy his job.
Strengths | Honesty, memory, quick thinking, problem solving, situation control | Weaknesses | Impatient, irritable, a tad manipulative, sappy feelings, being gentle | Likes | Organization, control, peace and quiet, appreciation, respect, creativity, night time | Dislikes | Disorganization, chaos, crowds, disrespect, being insulted or undermined, liars, cockiness | Hobbies | Organizing his herb stores, collecting herbs, finding new methods of medicine making | Habits | Stares into space when focused or thinking, bares his fangs quite often even when he isn’t super angry | Goals | Just continue to do his job and support the pack | Fears | He keeps them secret, but he does have a couple fears. One of them being encountering injuries or diseases in others that he can’t heal or cure and having to watch someone die because of his lack of knowledge. He also fears losing Razun, and even dying himself. |

Birth Hollow was born to two Au’Dar born and raised wolves named Visri, a healer, and Lynar, a warrior. Two wolves of smaller families, he was only born alongside a single sibling, a she-wolf who they named Nenalle. While Nenalle had been born with more of their father’s dark red and auburn pelt, Hollow had taken after his mother, with a mostly black pelt and a unique white stripe on his chest. As Visri was a healer, she found it easy to spend a lot of the first small portion of the pups’ lives in the healing dens, watching over them with her opossum tafa Ilem by her side.
Puphood On the topic of puppies, Hollow and his sister were practically complete opposites. While Nenalle had a tendency to get big bursts of energy and was constantly in the mood to play, Hollow preferred to sit alongside their mother and watch her sort her herbs, many of which she would tell him the names of. More often times than not, Nenalle would come barging through the den and mess up all of the organized herbs, and it was when she did things like this that Hollow would flare a temper, snapping at her and sometimes even chasing her down if she got on his nerves enough. Despite him going after her with actual annoyance, she always just found satisfaction in knowing she got her brother to play with her. Even though the pups fought a lot, Visri knew that they loved each other and adored them both for their individual personalities.
As is typical within the Au’Dar, both Hollow and Nenalle were watched closely by their packmates and evaluated in their strengths and weaknesses. While Nenalle was best noted in her quickness and her energy, Hollow was far better with his logic and his memory.
Yearling The two siblings were assigned their trades and mentors as they reached a year old, Nenalle becoming a hunter apprentice while Hollow became a healer apprentice, like his mother. Though, much to his dismay, it was not his mother who he was mentored by once his general training was over, which frustrated him to no end. Instead, it was a graying brute who became his mentor, a very irritable old man who was strict and to the point, never one to mess around. While most others tended to avoid him unless needed, everyone could appreciate his focus for his job. Which was something that Hollow admired and sought to be similar to. Though, at times the two being so similar in temperament would cause fights between them, as both of their tempers could flare and send sparks flying at any time. When this would happen, he would go and spend time with his mother instead and learn from her.
His year as a Healer Apprentice went by rather smoothly, as his memory easily caught on to information about the different herbs and his organization gave him focus. He did as much helping and shadowing as he could, helping when sickness broke out or packmates were injured. He had even been present for a birth or two, which while the process made him feel icky at first, he knew that it was a part of life. Though, there was a bit of a hiccup during his training that truly tested him. Nenalle had come to Alvik’s den, guided by another wolf who she leaned on for support, the bottom half of her leg twisted, and even though her face too was twisted in pain, she still had that signature toothy smirk. While out on a hunt she had tripped and been stepped on by a deer hoof, breaking a part of her leg. And of course the healer they brought her to happened to be his mentor. With his absolutely wonderful sense of humor, Alvik instructed Hollow to treat her himself while he would simply supervise. And as to be expected, the entire time all his sister did was pester him, asking him stupid questions, making fun of how much like flowers he smelled now, being loud, lounging as though she were there just for a visit. It was beyond irritating, and he snapped at her multiple times, but, to his credit, he had her leg on its way to healing pretty quick, she just needed recovery time, which she thankfully spent in her own densite rather than theirs.
2 Years As Hollow reached the Coming-of-Age threshold, Nenalle and himself, as well as a few others of similar ages, all stood before the Centurion and received their ceremony, agreeing to Marklov’s pledge and readying themselves to get their tafas. Truthfully, while a few of the others, including his sister, spoke briefly of what kind of tafas they hope they get, he didn’t really have any expectations or hopes going into it. If anything, the only minor hope he had was that his tafa, whatever it ended up being, was not super energetic and chaotic, for he already lived in the presence of Nenalle which was enough energy already. Hollow walked the Citadel silently, and while he met eyes with multiple animals of varying shapes and sizes, most of them simply looked and scurried away. Honestly, he wasn’t sure how long he was in there, though Visri claimed that it was an hour or so. There was a point when he had pushed through some bushes and found himself in a sort of small clearing of sorts, one with multiple little burrows and dens throughout. And all through the clearing were rabbits, bunnies, and hares. Most of them ignored him, focusing on whatever it was they were doing. But, among them was a rather large hare, one who stood right at the center of the clearing like a statue. Just as he had arrived, the hare had turned and begun to stare at him, but did not move. When his eyes met the hare’s, he could only describe what he felt as a shiver down his back, like a drop of water moving against his skin through his fur. The two had stared at one another for quite a while, and then Hollow lightly bowed his head, which the hare returned. She moved from her position and approached him, looking up at him with narrowed eyes. It almost seemed as though she didn’t like him, but when another rabbit began to approach, she casually moved sideways, putting herself between the other rabbit and the black wolf. As Hollow walked away, she followed, but each time that he glanced back at her, she would stop and look away from him. This process continued all the way until Hollow walked to the center tree and looked back at her. Though she seemed as though she was less than interested, she still stayed, and Hollow made their marks on the tree. The two left the Citadel together and went so that Hollow could establish his own den.
One thing that did happen, much to his surprise, was Visri had called both him and Nenalle to the main densite, where they found that she was waiting for them with Lynar at her side. Throughout their lives, both of the siblings of course knew that Lynar was their father, that fact was never a secret. But he hadn’t really interacted with them much, nor had he ever been there to help raise them. He was present within the pack, they saw him sometimes, but he never went out of his way to speak to them or be around them. So seeing their parents together was rather suspicious to them both. With both siblings and both parents gathered together, Lynar spoke to them both, saying that while he has never been around personally in their lives, he has always loved Visri and that even if his word did not mean much to them, he was proud to see them both become Gardes. He acted as though he wanted to get to know them and come around, but neither sibling really seemed too invested. They just kinda shrugged and walked away.
3 Years Lynar's attempts at becoming closer with his kids was one that he kept at for a little bit, though neither sibling really found purpose in it. But, after a few months of "connecting", both Lynar and Visri approached the two of them and admitted that they had planned to begin the same process that they went through when they were the same age: arranging marriages. The two of them had become mates in the first place because their old fashioned families followed the views of “mate for genetics first, love later”. Their parents had arranged them together to have healthy pups, they just got lucky that their personalities meshed well together. But now, following in their family traditions, Lynar and Visri wished to do the same with their children. Unfortunately for them, neither sibling had any interest. Nenalle was the sort to flirt and mess around with whoever she wanted for the sake of fun, she wasn’t mate material or mother material, nor did she want either of those things. And Hollow…he was more focused on his job and didn’t seem overly interested in romance of any form, much less pups.
Still, determined in their resolve, they did whatever they could to try and set the two of them up with others of the Au’Dar. Countless times Visri would come to Hollow’s den, a random she-wolf by her side, claiming that the lady with her would make a great mate and a great mother or some variation of that, and every time Hollow would shoo them away.
Not too long after this process of theirs began, Alvik had passed away of old age, and under the presumption that Hollow was grieving, the parents put more focus on Nenalle, thankfully. And they weren’t wrong; Hollow did miss his mentor, despite his grumpy old man nature, and he was grieving, but his method of doing so was to simply keep working.
4 Years Just as Hollow reached the age of 4, there was an accident. A couple of rogues had come sneaking around the territory, and while chasing them out, Lynar had fallen from the mountain and died from his wounds. Though they had not been close to him, the siblings did try to be there for Visri, as she had loved him. She didn’t mention or act on the whole marriage thing for a little while, but a couple months after his death, while they were spending time together Visri mentioned it again to Hollow. She told him of how in the beginning Lynar hadn’t wanted pups either, nor had he wanted a mate. But after they got together, despite neither of them knowing what they wanted, they came to love one another. And that was the same fate that she hoped that Hollow and Nenalle would go through: finding someone to care for and to care for them and have families. Not wanting to drive his mother away, he gave in, a little bit anyway.
The first she-wolf that Visri brought to Hollow was one named Hyta. She was a sweet wolf, at first anyway, but she rather quickly revealed that she was rather…lazy, with a pathetic work ethic and more often times than not found some excuse to get out of her duties. Hollow entertained his mother’s offering for a few months, but his temper did none of them any favors when he eventually booted her from his den and instructed her to leave him alone.
The second was a she-wolf named Aluny, who truthfully reminded him way too much of Nenalle. High energy, high strung, talkative, and unbelievably clingy. There wasn’t a time of day that she didn’t try to cling to Hollow’s side while he worked, going with him everywhere as if she didn’t have anything better to do. Sometimes she tried to help him with his herbs, but most of the time she would just make a mess. Just like the first, Hollow demanded that she leave him alone, that he was no longer interested.
The next couple months Hollow avoided his mother and any she-wolves she tried to bring his way, and while much of his time was spent doing the normal, he had a chance to do something he hadn’t done before. A Hunter had come running into the Healers Clearing calling for help, saying that during a hunt one of the other Hunters had been impaled by a large deer antler and needed help immediately out in the field. Hollow was the first to scoop up a cluster of herbs and run for it. In the field, the wolf was bleeding out and in a lot of pain, and many of the others in the hunting party were gathered around in a panic, unsure of what to do. Hollow snapped at all of them, demanding silence and sending some of them for other resources nearby. It took a little while of pressure and nonstop effort, but Hollow managed to stop the bleeding, patch the wound, and ease their pain with herbs. Multiple healers had approached him, asking him questions about what he had done and how he did it. But it was Nenalle who approached him, rather calmly which was strange, and she thanked him, as the wolf he had saved had been her first Apprentice who had recently been promoted to Garde. She did bring in some humor that she probably thought was just a tease, claiming that he could be the Avant Garde. But while she thought she was making a joke, it was really that that put into motion his sights.
In the few years that he had been working on healing and herbs and medicine, he knew that he was smart enough and had enough creativity that he could do more than what he was doing. He wanted to find and create new ways of healing, he wanted to hold influence over how healing within the pack was done, and he found himself naturally gravitating towards being more authoritative, especially with the Apprentices. And after keeping that wolf alive, and all the words from his peers and his sister, Hollow formally challenged the Avant Garde. He knew what he was signing up for when he challenged them, and he had memorized and practiced all that he could, readying himself. The challenge begun and Hollow was given his list of illness symptoms to try and identify a certain illness, and he was to go and fetch the herbs needed to treat said illness. Unfortunately, his illness was rather difficult to figure out, as this combination of symptoms was unknown to him. He spent some time thinking it through, and he doubted his success rate momentarily. But then he remembered his puphood days, his days spent by Visri’s side listening and watching as she talked about herbs and healed packmates who came to her. The illness he was given, he had seen it before, back in those days. Upon remembering, Hollow ran in search of the herbs needed, one or two of which had been rather rare and only grown in the gardens. He returned, herbs in maw, and identified the illness, which turned out to be correct. The Avant Garde at the time, an older she-wolf he had become rather good friends with, was very proud of his efforts and was glad to be handing her rank to someone she knew the pack could depend on.
Not too long after his rise to Avant Garde, Visri sought him out, and, much to his dismay, she had a she-wolf at her side. Visri spoke of how she was beyond proud of his accomplishments and proud of him for rising in rank. But, just as he suspected, she also spoke of how his own determination and drive for a higher rank was something that she knew he could bond with someone over, especially someone who had the same goals. The she-wolf she introduced was one he had known of for a little bit, a female named Danali. She was a hunter, like his sister was, and she was just a little bit younger than they were. She was rather quiet but well-spoken, more elegant and set in her ways. In the time that they initially spent together, she spoke of how her goal for the not-so-far future was to become the Avant Garde Hunter and have more influence in the pack and the strategizing of the hunters. Even though at that point he still had no desire for a mate or a family, admittedly, Hollow couldn’t deny that of the she-wolves his mother had brought to him thus far, Danali was the most similar to himself, and he found that he could comfortably have discussions with her when they saw each other outside of their working. In a way, the two didn’t really become “mates”, more like “fiances”.
5 Years After a couple of months spent “together”, Hollow wasn’t entirely sure what he thought of this situation anymore. He had come to learn after a little bit that while Danali was a hard worker and similar to himself, she also had a more manipulative and condescending nature that she displayed when she wasn’t around him. Nenalle would sometimes come running to his den to gossip, asking if it was true that Hollow had declared his love for Danali and that they were fully mates and that they planned on having as many pups as possible. A bunch of random things that he had never done nor said that she claimed Danali was telling others. She also told him of how any time another she-wolf even mentioned his name, Denali would become defensive and would claim that Hollow was her’s and that he was taken. In his mind, this kind of behavior was beyond childish, and very irritating. But he had not witnessed it himself yet, so while he did keep it in mind, he continued on keeping an eye on her and looking for all of these red flags that she didn’t show around him.
Current Hollow and Danali could still be considered “fiances”, but he has been distancing himself from her. He still watches out for this awful behavior he has heard about, but he has more important things to focus on than she-wolf drama and lies.
In addition, after the recent upheaval of the Au'Dar's political stability, Hollow isn't entirely sure how to feel. He does not support Akala, nor her method of taking over the pack, and he does not hide this fact. But he has not and likely will not leave the pack. Instead, he makes his own snide comments when the topic is brought up, and his interactions with the new Centurion in person are...honestly not too pleasant.

The Summer has been merciless to the three wolf packs of the valley, and all have grown tired and desperate. In an attempt to find a solution, the King and Queen of the Vertok hosted an Emergency meeting for the other pack Leaders, in which they addressed the problem of the drought and introduced a newcomer, Timber, Leader of a new guild called the Mercurior. Though her presence was unwelcomed, she brought word of a large dam in the northern mountains that she claimed holds back enough water to help the valley return to normal. Though hesitant, all of the pack Leaders agreed that a large patrol consisting of chosen wolves from each pack would be sent together to investigate this dam.
A week has passed and the day has come. 3-4 wolves from each pack have been chosen and sent to meet near the base of the mountain. If all goes according to plan, the group of wolves will find the dam and destroy it, bringing water back to the valley.
The dam thread is going to be a regular roleplay thread, but it will work a little bit differently than normal. Everyone's first posts in the thread will be your normal written posts of all the characters meeting up, heading towards the mountain, and finding the dam. After everyone makes their first post and all of the characters have made it to the dam, the rest of the posts will be shorter and more to-the-point action based of everyone "attacking".
Dice Rolls // Everyone is essentially taking turns "attacking" the dam in some way in the hopes of making it burst. How much damage you do and how effective what you do is is determined by dice rolls. Everyone rolls a d20, and whatever number you get determines both how effective and how much damage, with 1 being the least and 20 being the most.
- It is the choice of the player how they write out their dice rolls, what method the characters try, how they succeed or fail, ect. Your methods could be anything from just yanking branches from it, kicking it, throwing yourself into it…throwing someone else into it? Whatever you can come up with. But the lower the number you roll, the less effective and the less you do regardless of your method. Your aim could be to give the dam a hefty kick, but you roll a 1, so instead of kicking it and branches go flying...your leg just gets stuck. Or you trip and fall as you go to lift your leg. Get creative with your methods and your results!
The dam will basically work like a boss battle, where the dam has "health", and when that health reaches zero, the dam bursts. The dam will have 300 health at the start.
1-2 played wolves from each pack can go on the patrol, while the other 2-3 are NPCs. Members are allowed to participate with up to 2 wolves, both of whom must be from different groups If we get to a point where we still have more slots to fill, we may allow members to add more characters. If you want to volunteer wolves, you can post their name(s) and what group(s) they come from in this post. First come first serve. —Note: A maximum of 2 loners may join the group, and it would be “assumed” that they are other members of the guild by the pack wolves. Try to blend in, don’t be suspicious. For this event, you may go to our Site Dice Rolls thread and roll your dice there, and whatever result you get determines how well the character does in your post.

[googlefont="Poiret One"][googlefont="Lora"] ARTEMIS Suit of the Sanzin NEVER FALTER, NEVER LET THEM BLEED YOU OUT She had begun to curse the valley and this wretched drought. The lack of water and the gradual drying of the river was already a massive thorn in her side. But the migration of the larger herds of prey towards greener fields only aided in her pack’s unrest. Food was essential, of course, but the wolves could last at least a week without. Water was unfortunately not the same. But when you have reached a point where both thirst and hunger begin to weigh in, things begin to take a more desperate turn. This was a point that the Suit had no intention of losing to.
But, as though on cue, a report came in of a large lone bison wandering the Sanzin fields. As most of the other larger animals had already fled the valley, this was their chance to at the very least satiate a smidgen of what the pack was in need of.
It had been a little while since she had partaken in a large hunt such as this. Seeing as Artemis had been an Ace of Clubs just prior to becoming Suit, she had her fair share of hunting experience. So the thought of taking down a bison just as she used to was an easy decision to make. And, although he had never been a Club himself, she thought of no one better to aid her in such a hunt than her Ace of Spades.
It was like a wave of nostalgia, bounding through the tall and dried grasses of the plains, nose and ears alert for any signs of their target. Sure, half a year may not seem like that long of a period to be without hunting, and yes, she had done a little bit of hunting on her own since then. But there was nothing like running alongside a companion in search of a beast as mighty, if not more so, than themselves with the intention of knocking it down a peg. It was refreshing, to say the least. And, just to add on to the satisfaction, regardless of how other more testy members of the pack felt about her or her ascension to Leadership months ago, she knew that none would reject the taste of fresh blood and meat when their stomachs were empty.
As eager as the Suit was to find this bison, she knew the art of patience when it came to creatures such as this. From what they had heard, this beast was older, an ancient being who had lost its way, or had been abandoned. While ungulates were prey, just as any other smaller animal, regardless of their lack of claws or fangs, they were not to be fooled with. Deer and antelope were far more forgiving. But beasts such as bison? Neither Othis or herself had any room for error, no matter how large or how old this being was.
When the dark outline of the creature came into view over the hill, she, just like her companion, couldn’t help but examine its features and its might. It was indeed old, as much of its dark brown and black fur had begun to grow dull and gray. And even compared to herself, a giant among wolves, this bison was huge, like an ancient still-standing tree. She also couldn’t help but notice many large patches along its body without fur, sharp lines of past injuries evident even from afar. This large brute had lived a full life, one that would have been quite interesting to watch in person. It was almost depressing to think that his herd had abandoned him. Nevertheless, his herd may see no use for him anymore, but the Sanzin did.
Though they did not speak, inaudible messages passed silently between Suit and Ace as the equally graying brute strayed to the side. The bison knew they were there; it was impossible that he didn’t. But, like many other animals they found themselves chasing down, it wouldn’t be quite to easy to escape his sights, as the distance between his eyes and his large head allowed him to get a better view of his surroundings. Luckily, Othis managed to catch the beast’s attention, allowing the large white wolf to lower herself into the thick grasses. Her large paws stepped silently in a partial circle around the beast’s side. Each turn of his head, she would stop, but his eyes would find their way back to Othis quickly.
This was when she spotted the same thing that her companion had seen before she. His legs were already torn and bloody. Not fresh, but still relatively recent. With any luck, he had a limp. But he still stood tall, suggesting that a little bit of a limp wasn’t enough to limit him. Golden eyes narrowed, pacing a distance from his behind and examining both back legs. One was far more stained with blood, large gashes decorating his skin.
With bracing in her legs, the beastly white wolf launched herself forward, jaws parting wide and latching on to the bison’s hindquarters right where his hip met his spine. Pulling herself up, she began to slam and rake her back legs down the creature’s leg, reopening already present wounds and creating new ones. Almost immediately she heard the angry bellow of the beast and felt his legs buck. Wind began to shuffle through her fur as presumably the beast began to run, but her jaws were far too familiar with the feeling of a large creature attempting to throw you off. As much respect as she held for this monstrous hooved beast, she knew her jaws were more powerful.

[googlefont="Poiret One"][googlefont="Lora"] ARTEMIS Suit of the Sanzin NEVER FALTER, NEVER LET THEM BLEED YOU OUT There was a small wash of relief that crossed the pup’s face, perhaps out of fear of being a disappointment. It wasn’t an entirely inaccurate or unjust fear, considering who she stood before. Still, a small voice in the large white wolf’s head solidified that of the pups present, this one was the least of her concerns in that regard. So she remained in waiting, watching the gears in the she-pup’s head turn in thought at her next line of questioning.
Unfortunately, being that this was one of the first instances of Artemis interacting with Helva, she couldn’t say she truly had a prediction of what the answer could be. She could think of a plethora of young wolves, both younger and older than this one, who would know their answer right away. Pups were often ambitious, even in a cruel setting such as the Sanzin; ambition and determination were key traits that most often led to your own success. Of course, there were those within the pack who had neither of those things, and it was often quite clear how far that got them when they were the ones picking at the pack’s scraps. But, in the case of this Zero, she could see that there was some present. Though, in what quantity, she wasn’t sure.
She hesitated in answering, which suggested that the true answer may not necessarily be the one she wished to hear. It may seem strange to anyone else, but the idea of her position of Suit being taken from her one day by the force of her own kin was more desirable than any other outcome. Sure, there were others she was quite confident would lead her pack with her same virtues and ideals. But, with any luck, those wolves would be soil beneath the paws of her kin by the time her reign came to an end.
Golden hues narrowed. ‘I do not wish to rise.’ Such words could be taken in many ways, given the pack in which they resided. Wishing not to rise could mean anything from being content with your current position, or to intending to one day be gone from the pack. The pup didn’t know what she wanted, was the conclusion that the Suit settled on. She almost felt better about such an outcome than to view the pup’s words in any other light.
But, to her surprise, Helva spoke again with a different tone. She side-eyed the young one, curious, and found that perhaps she was wrong. She did know what she wanted, to some capacity at least. She wanted stability, if her previous words were any indication of her desires. But stability was not directly associated with any given position or level of power. Anyone could be overthrown at any moment, especially in the Sanzin. Granted, she didn’t see herself being overthrown any time soon, so her own stability was an exception to that rule. But anyone else? There were few who were truly safe.
She considered the pup’s suggestion, or declaration rather, that she would be a Queen one day. It was an answer she could be content with. The little she-wolf had half a year at minimum to consider where she truly wished to stand.
“Then I shall watch the progress of one of my future Queens intently.” She allowed a small smile to cross her maw, peering back ahead where some of the young duelists began to disperse while others remained locked in tooth and claw. “And what of your talents? Do you see yourself engaging in battles? Or hunting down bison? Or…perhaps you shall grow to be even more proficient in healing than that humorless doe in the Hearts den.” Artemis chuckled to herself, imagining the face of her favorite fluffy Queen of Hearts in her mind. Personally she would find such a change quite amusing. She may have to go and visit her dear Moro later and inquire of her eventual replacement. That would be a fun conversation, she was sure.

[googlefont="Poiret One"][googlefont="Lora"] ARTEMIS Suit of the Sanzin NEVER FALTER, NEVER LET THEM BLEED YOU OUT She almost couldn’t help but smile at the look of surprise and uncertainty that crossed the young lad’s face. While pups themselves were rather predictable, the beastly white she-wolf made it a habit of ensuring that she was quite the opposite. In what land would it be normal for a full grown, and very large, adult wolf to command a pup, not even a year of age yet, to charge them? It was entertaining to think of how this was the first, but most certainly not the last, time that her Little Owl would be given a command like this.
Artemis stood in waiting in practiced position, anticipating the pup’s attack. Though, perhaps “anticipating” wasn’t quite the best word, for her hopes were not that high. But perhaps he would surprise her. She couldn’t help but wonder if this pup had ever actually been taught any proper battle maneuvers, but her expectations weren’t high in those ideas either.
When the pup moved, running forward towards her, she almost felt the urge to sigh. Rushing in a straight line towards your enemy was an action destined for failure, if not death. But she knew what she was getting herself into when this relationship had begun. Intelligence was not a very prominent beginning feature for her to rely on, unfortunately.
As the young brute charged, her body remained perfectly still, eyes unwavering from his as he steadily approached. While she had her planned course of action, the inner true mentor in her longed for him to do something out of the ordinary, to surprise her. But alas, he kept on his straight path onward.
Her golden hues narrowed, and just as the pup just reached her, her legs bent and shoved hard against the dry ground, her body flying over his head in a mass of white fur. Her large paws landed with a loud set of thumps, but they did not stop moving once they landed. All four rotated, twisting back towards the pup in an almost slide. And just as the little male turned around to face her once more, her head was already lurching forward towards him.
But rather than her jaws opening, fangs bared, or her aim finding his small head, instead her maw remained closed and her aim shot downwards. And, with one upward sweep of her head, her large muzzle found the pup's chest, lifting him up off of his paws and tossing him away from her. She did not use her full strength, nor did she throw her whole neck into the motion, so luckily the pup wasn't thrown too far or too hard. She imagined it was still enough to startle him, though.
She leapt forward again, landing over top of the pup with her front legs on either side of him, eyes looking down upon him. And instead of judgement or disappointment, there was almost amusement on her features as her head leaned down towards him, finding the whole little scene rather funny.
"Here is your first offensive battle lesson: should you be facing a target who will fight back, never run in a straight line. Never let your opponent predict your next move."

[googlefont="Poiret One"][googlefont="Lora"] ARTEMIS Suit of the Sanzin NEVER FALTER, NEVER LET THEM BLEED YOU OUT If she were fully truthful, she hadn't expected much of an answer to her rather thoughtful question. As much as it sent stings of irritation through her skull, she was regretful to say that not all of the pups within the pack had been taught the ways of the world by herself, or even any of the other wolves within the pack who actually held the same virtues as her. Despite the knowledge that at the very least their genes were sound, she didn't actually know what to expect from these pups.
And, she settled regretfully, not much of an answer was to come. The pup didn't understand. Though she wasn't sure if she thought she would or not. Perhaps it was just wishful thinking. Then again, she had been rather surprised by the intellect of pups before, so she would reserve her doubts for later. Golden hues side-eyed the white she-pup, watching as her brows furrowed and twisted. She could see the gears turning, which was at least mildly satisfying. Though it was clear that her words weren't fully understood, she was trying, and that was a relief.
Her gaze turned away, ears rotating to listen to the rambunctious pups ahead in their games, or the less than interesting quiet conversations held by the other adults in the shadows. She had just watched as, rather surprisingly, the largest of the pups was thrown off his paws, when that little voice next to her spoke again. And her head turned a little bit, eyes widening a tad at the young one's words.
Despite her confusion towards the intricate question, the young white wolf gave an almost equally intricate answer, one that the Suit couldn't say she predicted. She blinked a few times, staring down at the young pup, practically a smaller reflection looking back at her. She was silent, her words working through Artemis' mind. Perhaps she should have expected to be surprised, all things considered. Most pups were naive and clueless, but not all.
Though she was silent for a long minute, contemplating Helva's answer, a smile settled over the Suit's face, and a genuine one at that. The large white wolf slowly lowered her head towards the pup, gently pressing the end of her muzzle and her nose against the pup's forehead, a little sapling of pride sprouting in her chest.
As do I, my ibis. As do I.
She remained this way for a silent minute before she pulled away, lifting her head again. For just a moment, her eyes flicked upwards, almost in a glare, towards two she-wolves nearby who happened to be watching. She knew what had just been done, as did they. The young pup did not, but, given her answer to the question, perhaps it was better she didn't. Her bright gaze flicked back to the pup, narrowed, but in a more warm and approving manner as she finished her answer.
So that she will always have a place. She may be young and still relatively new to the ways of survival, but she was a member of the Sanzin, where being in a group didn’t mean survival was fought for together. Should it ever come down to it, the pack would stand together as one. But until that day came, it was every wolf for themselves. And it seemed as though Helva knew this, thinking of, and guaranteeing, her future at such a young age, Anyone else may find this to be unfortunate for someone so young. But Artemis did not. This pup was strong, in mind and body, and if this was how she was now, Artemis almost couldn’t wait to see what kind of wolf she would grow into.
“A very thoughtful and wise answer, indeed. And, might I say,-” The beastly white Suit lowered her head again, but just enough that she was nearly eye-level with the pup. “-a cause worth fighting for.”
Her eyes turned away from the pup, looking back to the middle of the clearing. Fighting was in the nature of the Sanzin. It was a controller of all of their lives, in some way or another. Every day was a battle, especially when you had goals, ambitions. In most cases, the only thing that stood between you and reaching your deepest desires was pure effort, or a list of battles to be won. Even in the case of the Zeros, who were under the protection of the Suit. While she was always there to guarantee their collective survival, she could not protect them from one another. This was something all of them were aware of, and something they fought for every day. And, as it seemed, Helva was one of the ones who stood at the top, whether she knew this or not.
“Though, I do wonder. You fight to keep your place among the young and restless currently, but what of your place in the future? Any particular place you would seek to rise to? Perhaps the highest among the Numbers? A Queen?” A small smirk crossed her features, nearly chuckling to herself. “Or maybe the Suit?”

Despite his nerves being on edge, even in that moment, there was a little blossom of warmth that settled in the young pup's chest at the brute's words of comfort. A part of him almost felt relieved at the thought that someone was ok with having him around, even if it was just one wolf. Most of his life he had at least two, and when he was younger there was more than that, since back when there were more pups who were…ya know…not as eager to leave home or decide their futures. But now it felt as though there was no one. At least he had one again.
His eyes went a little bit wide at the man's offer, mouth slightly agape and at a loss of words on how to answer. "O-oh, I…uh…" His big silver eyes flickered around him for a minute, his paws shuffling together in uncertainty. He swallowed down a lob of nerves and padded forward slowly, and though he was vaguely aware of how far Cal was from him, he still managed to walk forward and run nose-first into the brute's side. For a moment he jerked his head backwards, worried that the bigger wolf wouldn't appreciate the mistake. But, after the end of his muzzle pushed against the other male, something seemed to click in the pup's mind. Something…almost familiar…and comforting. He slowly leaned his head forward again, his muzzle pushing into a thick layer of soft fur. Had he been a cat, that moment is when the purring would have started. The feeling of the soft fur made his mind soften and his head turned, nuzzling against the brute's side. He gently pressed his own side against Cal's, lowering himself onto the flat stone and curling his legs up under him.
There was silence for a minute, and it was actually a peaceful kind of silence. And then a whispered voice found his ears, and they flattened a tad against his head. Nightmares weren't something that only he experienced, obviously he knew that. Everyone had nightmares. Or at least he was pretty sure everyone did. So it wasn't a surprise. But…there was a difference between the nightmares he had in the past, and the ones he was having now. The ones of the past felt more…indirect. Ones where he himself wasn't being hurt or chased or anything like that, but someone else in his life was. But these…these felt so much more targeted towards himself. Which only made them feel all the more real.
"I…I just…keep seeing its face…every time I close my eyes…it's always there, watching me. Sometimes it's just one…other times it feels like the forest is full of them…and they are all looking at me…" He was almost scared to close his eyes right then, worried that he would and the words he spoke would come true. "And other times…I just see that…body…all torn up and…t-the blood….." He could feel his stomach twisting in disgust at the mere thought of it. Even though all prey was prey and pretty much all prey bled, there was a big difference between a little rabbit or squirrel and a massive deer.
But, there was still more than that, though much less scary and gorey. Rather, more…psychological. "And…..the others…..I'll see their faces…looking at me…as if I'm an outsider…or like they hate me…..but I guess those are more real than they are nightmares…" His head slowly lowered to his paws, resting between them with his ears still lowered. His own brothers hated him. He knew that they did. But…what was he supposed to do? They were both so…stubborn. He knew nothing he said would ever convince them to like him again. He had lost his two closest family members when he was very young…and now he was losing the only other two he had left…
"Speaking." Thinking.
