Caldera
Art work and character idea by the lovely Burn
General Information
Name: Caldera
Alias(es): Cal-Only her brother and those she loves can call her that, with her permission.
Gender: Female
Age: 2 years
Pack: Loner
Family: Cassius (Brother)
Appearance
Physical Description- She's tall like her brother, their colorations revealing their being twins, but though they share the same genes, Caldera is thicker, muscle bound and her fur is short where her brothers flows long and free. Her lips are almost always pulled into a grown and brows knitted together in concentration. She is stoic and her body holds constant tension. Her gaze, though warm in colors is cold. Part of her is envious of the way her brother carries himself, but she would never admit it. She can't change the way her heavy paws hit the earth or how her looks make others shrink back.
Height/Weight- She stands at 36 inches like her brother, but she outweighs him at 150 pounds of muscle and thick limbs. She is a strong individual who enjoys fighting, though sometimes her weight puts extra strain on her limbs, but she ignores the aches and pains in her joints and the fact that she isn't the quickest wolf in the world.
Scent- Cinnamon and cedar bark.
Voice- Susan Eagen, sharp and authoritarian with a sarcastic tone.
Reputation + Personality
She has a brutish look upon her and her hard voice is like knives. She is almost like a bear and her personality is no different.
Short Tempered- She is easily annoyed, when she has a goal her mind is set upon it and she doesn't want any to get in the way or question her decisions. To question her is to bring upon a sharp tongue and a threat of a battle. She has virtually no patience-unless it comes to her brother, she is a bit more lenient with him, but even then she has her limits. She is quick to lash out physically and consider the consequences later-which she doesn't spend too much time focusing on.
Independent- Even as a pup she was independent, only relying on her parents for food and protection until she was strong enough to do it herself. She often went out on her own or assisted her father on hunts and when done with those tasks her often slunk away, thinking of the world that was beyond what she knew. Caldera doesn't rely on others.
Prideful- Though some may say hard headed, Caldera considers herself prideful. She worked hard for her strength and to be in the place she is now and takes pride in that and in the fact that she doesn't have to rely on anyone else for her needs. She loves the feeling of doing whatever she wants whenever and doesn't want to be held back or told what she can or can't do. Trying to control her is more likely to resolve in a fight.
Caring- Underneath that rocky persona is a wolf that does care for others, she just isn't comfortable or well adapted to sharing that side of her. A kind word or action by her is rare, but genuine. She tends to do what she thinks is right for others without consulting them first, determined that her good attentions would eventually be understood and if not, she still holds the believe that she acted in the right manner.
Protective- Anything she has she will defend. Anyone she loves will be under her care. She is not afraid to put herself in danger in someone she cares for is in danger or is threatened. Only she can do those things to the ones that she loves.
History
Alongside her twin brother, Cassius, Caldera grew up in a small family pack, raised by only her father and mother. Their family was perfect, peaceful. Cassius was always the pleaser and the "golden child" while Caldera ran off to pick fights with squirrels and foxes and when she got older, coyotes and rogue wolves who got to close to their homes. Caldera enjoyed the thrill of the fight and focused on getting stronger. She followed her father on hunts and learned how to fight from him but as she got older the days seemed to become dull. Now when she ran into rogues, if they were friendly, she would beg them for stories of the outside world and sat rapt as they wove their tails of adventure. Every one engraved in her head and strengthening her call for something greater. Her parents grew concerned from her continue aggression, but trying to intervene caused battles with their strong willed daughter that they eventually got too tired to fight and eventually they went on to have another litter.
Caldera stared at the pups, impassive. They were weak and thinking of herself having been in that state made her feel disgust while at the same time pride at how far she had come while at the same time she watched her brother dote on their new siblings. This moment opened her eyes as to what she wanted. Pups were not for her, she believed, nor was staying here and watching her little siblings grow up. Being in one place was driving her crazy and she couldn't understand how her brother functioned. If he wasn't with the pups he was following her. She tried to teach him to fight, but he had little interest-or talent and it concerned her, especially with how content he seemed to be in that. She couldn't understand why he would follow her on every adventure, even the dangerous ones, and it started to annoy her. She wanted her brother to grow up and find his independence and she came to the conclusion that she was holding him back so she did the only logical thing: she left.
Early in the morning she told her parents good bye and ran off without another word. Her parents weren't surprised, with her personality they couldn't see her staying long, they let her go, at least they had Cassius-until he ran past them, a blur in the wind. Caldera couldn't out run him, within minutes Cassius was at her side and adamant that he would follow her, though she could see the fear in his eyes. No convincing could make him leave so...she let him follow, though a plan had been churning behind her eyes. This was her chance to teach her brother how to grab life by the horns and grow into a true wolf. As they travel Caldera reacts coldly to her brother, snapping at him and often running ahead to the best of her abilities, hoping that he would get the hint: he was old enough now to hunt and be independent and so she works towards growing the distance between them.
Now Cassius travels loosely behind her, alone, afraid, and always awaiting the chance when they get to meet up here and there, though Caldera is determined to keep long distance between them so that he can start his journey towards independence.
