SPECIES: Eastern Timber wolf
» WEIGHT: 40 lb (18 kg)[/ul]
Smaller than the average wolf, Teru is a sleek, dainty girl with a slight build and a very youthful, dynamic look about her. She has a long body and even longer stilt-like legs that lack muscle and tread clumsily, as she continues to grow and practices her movements. Her gait is similar to a fox's, moving with a very quick and bouncy lightness with very animated, exaggerated movements, yet she is far from a fox's grace. Teru's fur is typical of her heritage, bearing staple blondes, browns, and subtle notes of red. Its texture is smooth and a little wiry due to its short length. Her ears are tall and pointy and her eyes are large and round, colored an exuberant yellow.
Teru's being radiates with brilliance and benevolence. She is an avid socialite attracted to bustling environments, whose extraverted essence allows her to thrive in the limelight. She puts on a performance with her exaggerated movements and innate flourishes, effortlessly harmonizing with the ebb and flow of her environment. As a conversationalist who desires nothing more than a lively audience to captivate, she cannot help but lengthen simple pleasantries and divulge her opinions or interests without any forethought, wanting to keep the conversation alive and inspired. With strong people skills, her ability to express herself comes naturally. She has the excitability of a child, speaking openly without fear but with enough tact to be inoffensive. She views the world through bright rose-colored glasses, and her staunch optimism can hardly be challenged by her nadirs or someone's wrongdoings. She never seems to lose her capacity to smile.
Those who do not know Teru well may mistake her unwavering friendliness for trickery. She excuses people's mistakes and misbehavior, over accommodating and compromising for those she believes are losing their leverage or those whose quality of life is tainted. She does not need to know someone personally to champion their beliefs or success, and she will strive to great lengths to assure their contentment. Her kindness doesn’t stem from a place of ill intent or deception, nor does she ever ask for her good deeds to be reciprocated. Teru is merely an inclusive, kindhearted character who wears her heart on her sleeve and who cannot tolerate the unjust treatment of others. But as someone who is incredibly clingy and overprotective, her doting affection often leads her to intrude on others' personal space. She can be quick to worry when they fail to perform their best.
Teru is comically confident in the manner she conducts herself. It is easy for her to laugh at herself when she messes up, and her resiliency never allows her to languish; one bad situation or experience cannot break her stride. She puts great emphasis on likability and inclusivity, putting even greater effort into understanding people's perspectives and frames of mind. Her refined social competence has grown significantly due to her empathetic nature, and there is nearly no social cue that slips past her unnoticed. As a law-abiding and authority-respecting individual, she complies with the decisions and demands of those she esteems. But can unintentionally allow admiration to cloud her better judgment. Teru can feel lost easily, struggling with thinking and deciding for herself, which is why she hinges so greatly on others’ strength, largely for emotional guidance; fully willing to relinquish her volition and welfare to their jurisdiction.
SHEER MOBILITY: Her frame allows much room for speed and agility and she has a lot of energy to splurge. Teru can make sharp turns and maneuver around obstacles flawlessly due to her naturally honed reflexes. She doesn't merely run — she glides. Her second most impressive physical talent is stealth despite her clumsy tendencies. Such precise, light movements render her steps almost completely inaudible.
FORGIVE AND FORGET: Her patience knows no bounds. Whether it is pity or guilt that elicits this incessant kindness, her heart is incapable of longterm anger and able to bleed for anyone. No matter how many times someone has wronged her, forgiveness is a powerful tool she wields. She puts the past behind her and can easily let go of the grudges that weigh her chest down. Vengeance is not of her caliber.
ABSTRACT-MINDED: Teru has a very imaginative mind. She is constantly thinking and creating, unafraid of making mistakes and enjoys working with her hands. A true visual learner who practices and employs through experience and experimentation, she prefers not to be confined to a concrete plan or routine, reveling in the freedom of improvisation. Teru likes having unlimited options and her ability to bounce back with a new plan should she fail is her most remarkable asset.
SIZE: Not even two feet tall yet it is no secret she lacks muscle, let alone stature. For the most part she has finished growing but will likely have occasional growth spurts, though nothing very significant in height. Consequently, it doesn't take a lot of force to destabilize her and knock her off her feet. Her long legs and unpracticed movements have her stumbling and tripping, and her overall balance could benefit from improvement too.
GERMAPHOBE: Teru has a deep-seeded fear of sickness and germs, and will react at the slightest sniffle or smallest sneeze, preferring distance over company in the presence of the sickly. She steers clear of those she suspects to be ill, even if their symptoms seem minor, and] overreacts towards more severe cases. She often bathes multiple times a week and keeps her environment as tidy as possible.
ABSENTMINDED: She rarely pays attention to what she probably should be, so it's not difficult at all to distract her or make her lose her train of thought. She can easily get lost inside her own head; inside her own world, leaving her less reactive and less attentive to her environment or those within it. Teru is prone to a lot of prancing around and quiet humming as she periodically loses touch with reality, being so immersed or preoccupied in her own.

☀ STRENGTHS
IRON BITE: While she has little muscle to spare, she isn't entirely hopeless. Among every bone and joint in her body, the highest concentration of raw power she has is in her jaws, which can administer a hefty amount of damage at any given time. Once she latches onto a target almost nothing can shake her off. Her teeth are incredibly sharp and sturdy, and they will continue to become stronger the more she grows.SHEER MOBILITY: Her frame allows much room for speed and agility and she has a lot of energy to splurge. ☀ WEAKNESSES
HYPER MIND: Teru's active mind is her biggest strength but it is also her biggest weakness, maybe even a source of great folly. It's always hopping from one subject and idea to the next, thus many things in life often pass her by. She has a fleeting memory, easily forgetting specific things, like names, faces, and locations. Her mind moves faster than her mouth can often process so sometimes it's difficult to understand her. She forgets to slow down and look at things more closely once in a while to enjoy looking at what she still can.SIZE: Not even two feet tall yet it is no secret she lacks muscle, let alone stature. ☀ HISTORY
PREVIOUS AFFILIATIONS: The Abira TribePREVIOUS RANKS: None
Teru was the youngest born to the Abira Tribe, her relatively small family. Her maternal grandparents, Yonas and Lishan, became prominent figures in her early life. They stayed with the family and guided them with ironclad principles. The siblings were provided the bare minimum of survival. The opportunity to feast was scant and many nights were spent huddled against each other for warmth and comfort. Much of the family's protection showed in the form of late night evacuations and head counts. The family didn't favor permanence, preferring a nomadic life.
Yonas was an authoritarian and his teachings did not tolerate slacking off or failure. Lishan was a quiet, obedient listener, and her parents adopted their habits. Her parents and grandparents—instructors—were hellbent on teaching life’s harsh truths. Strict and conventional, they sugarcoated nothing, and eventually these teachings bled into day to day life. There had always existed a barrier between Teru and her parents. They had no emotional enlightenment or personal guidance to offer beyond their own periodic medical or tracking study. Their indifference often sparked disputes that ended in raised voices, then agonizing silence.
Teru didn't get discouraged by these splinters and instead put her attention toward how she could make amends with the life she had been given. She craved attention, so when she could no longer rely on her instructors she looked to her siblings. Her oldest sister Mesimeri taught her ways to make the most out of any situation, and Desta taught her patience. The young girl had a learning disability and often it was Teru who would help Mesimeri guide Desta through their earlier lessons once the sun had set. Her falling behind was none of the instructors' concern if she couldn't keep up.
Cusping six months her older brother Dejen suddenly contracted a malady that began with headaches, nausea, and a loss of appetite. He was quarantined as the instructors feared he was contagious. Despite Ahadi's limited knowledge in the herbal department the pup's condition did not improve. He would mention his muscle aches and an incessant tingling under his skin. It was alarming at first but his grievances fell on deaf ears. There was nothing more the family could do so they caved to ignorance. It wasn't until Dejen began excessively salivating between meals that Teru began to feel genuine fear.
A silent, raging fire burned in the instructors' stoic eyes. It never failed to unnerve Teru. It was full of pure disdain. It terrified her, the fate the fire foresaw.
The sisters would often force their brother out of his inert state to distract themselves. Mesimeri distracted him by taking him for long scenic walks, dismissing his concerns and remaining unruffled by his sporadic vomiting. Teru and Desta occupied themselves by collecting little trinkets to give as get-well gifts. Any opportunity to ease the tension the siblings took with little hesitation.
The adults tolerated the pup until Desta became sick, exposing similar symptoms that matched Dejen's earlier state of illness. Dejen was eventually excommunicated. Despite the pleas, the adults silenced them. Teru's heart sank to her stomach where tension festered. Disbelief plagued her as grief grew. Just a few days later, Desta was found dead in the spot she laid the previous night. Her body was in pristine condition with not a mark of despair to be seen, apart from the blood that pooled around her jaws.
Teru felt sick. It seemed she and her sole remaining sister were the only ones who grieved. The barrier between her and her family grew as they fell into permanent silence. Her desperation for solace was never appeased, instead returned with cold eyes and curt words. She quietly left after that, shrouded in the darkness of a starless night. Nighttime had always frightened her. Isolation intensified it, and the deafening silence haunted her. It reminded her of Dejen. She longed to hear his voice again.
As the shadows guided her further from her home, despair took its toll. It carved an emptiness in her heart and left her wondering where she went wrong. Doubt tore her down and did everything it could to blame her parents and grandparents. It was their fault... but unconditional love and unwavering loyalty invalidated all logical reasoning. She wanted to hate them—her body ached—but she couldn't bring herself to feel such resentment. It made her blood run cold, how staunchly her subconscious rejected the thought of hating them. She remembered what Mesimeri and Desta taught her growing up and that carried her through. Though her heart was heavy, she smiled and kept moving forward, even during those moments where she didn't want to anymore.
