[PTab=PERSONALITY]
When it comes to Nanouk, even though she is pretty once noticed, it is not just her small size and dark fur that tend to be rather forgettable about her. Unlike many wolves who enjoy conversation or just talking in general, Nanouk is extremely quiet and laid-back, preferring to remain silent on the sidelines. It isn’t too often that one will encounter her choosing to talk, or talking about something mundane, for she avoids conversation and use of her voice in general. Not too many of the few who know her know why she is this way, whether it be because she doesn’t like talking or is insecure about her voice. She never says anything about it either, but her answer is typically that she merely chooses to speak when spoken to. Often times there is a hint of something else when she says this, but she either stops speaking or changes the subject if it is brought up. An extension of this, and another part of the reason she is so quiet, is her very timid nature. Crowds, large prey, fights, she avoids all of it. When it comes to physical matters, she knows that she is incapable of putting on any sort of good performance, or even really display much skill. She is one of those who does not see herself for what she can do, but rather what she can’t. It is for this reason that she keeps to herself, or just keeps herself hidden when around others.
Just with these two things alone, it is clear that she is super antisocial and prefers to keep to herself. While she does try to avoid others, there are always situations where interaction with other wolves is required. In those cases where she is in direct contact with another, or is confronted, Nanouk immediately takes on a very submissive attitude, keeping her eyes averted, her tail low, her head lowered, all of that. Even though it probably isn’t the best way to go about things depending on who she is interacting with, this is her first instinct that she takes on whether she wants to or not. She makes it known that in any given situation she holds no power, which can often lead to others stepping all over her, though she either doesn’t seem to notice or doesn’t mind. As one could probably guess with this examination, she isn’t exactly the bravest of wolves in any sense. Cowardice is something that she shows quite often, shying from and running from conflict the moment it starts to show its face. Whether another wolf tries to fight or go after her, or a predator tries to go after her, or even other wolves going after each other, she avoids those as quickly as she possibly can. Anything to avoid getting shoved into a fight.
Already it is very clear that Nanouk is not exactly keen on general interaction or conflict or any form of violence. But throughout all of this, the primary things spoken for are other wolves and predators. Nothing has yet been said about how she interacts with animals of prey, and even that is something that other wolves would find her laughable for. When it is said that she avoids violence, that doesn’t just mean she avoids fighting or avoids other animals fighting. A majority of the time, she avoids hunting too. A gentle wolf at heart, she hates the sight and the sounds of suffering, so hunting is not something that she is too keen on. She is willing to hunt, but only if it is something that she knows she can kill quickly without any fuss. The moment that her prey squeals in pain or lets out a cry, she immediately feels her whole body freeze, usually letting the prey go. This is yet another thing that she doesn’t disclose the reasoning for, is her sensitivity to certain sounds and sights. She grows tense when hearing any form of pain in another animal’s call or voice, and will either veer away from the sound or block it out.
Nanouk is...pathetic, to say the least. One could not count the amount of times that other wolves have looked down on her and seen her as nothing more than a burden. Over time, she has taken on that role in her own mind as well. Never standing up for herself, always shying away from others, avoiding conflict at all times. Some have said that she is barely worth calling a wolf. And maybe they are right. But old habits and ways of thinking tend to stay with their inhabitor for a long time.

Height: 29 inches
Weight: 57 lbs.
Build: Quite thin and slender, both naturally and due to malnutrition, she is far more leg than she is body, though even with long legs she is still a rather small wolf. With her small size, though, comes a lot of speed and maneuverability.
Fur Color(s): Primarily deep black with accenting splashes of red
Fur Pattern(s): None, minus occasional splatters of red fur
Fur Length: Short with patches of medium
Nose Color: Black
Eye Color: Orange
Scars: Many hidden beneath her fur
Distinct Features: Small size, red-flecked dark pelt, pretty eyes
Strengths: Speed, small spaces, camouflage
Weaknesses: Strength, size, hunting larger prey
A young and dashing little wolf, Nanouk is both unforgettable and unforgettable at the same time, as strange as it may sound. A canine of small stature and overall size, she is not the sort to stand out in a crowd. Her body is lithe and slender, resulting from a combination of genetics and malnutrition, but her legs are quite long and thin. Even though one may think that a wolf with long legs would be tall, she is quite a petite wolf, her legs hardly giving her any additional height, which only makes her body seem that much smaller. Now, to her credit, she is not the smallest wolf that one could possibly encounter. There are likely wolves out there quite smaller than her. Consider her “average” sized, but on the smaller end of the spectrum of what is seen as “average”.
While her size and honestly somewhat pathetic build leaves her in the dust compared to many, it cannot be denied that her pelt is an eye-catcher. Deep and dark black in primary color, this young she-wolf blends in with the night and appears as a shadow during the day. It is often hard to spot her, but once you do, it is somewhat difficult to forget, for such a dark-colored pelt draped over such a small body is an interesting sight. Though, while that alone makes her stand out, it is actually something else that is most often remembered distinctly about her, and that is her pelt accents. In comparison to the dark black, all across her pelt are splashes and flecks of a rich reddish-brown color that can appear orange in the right light. These dashes are mostly found along her head and torso, but in the spots that they are, they add a dashing flick of fire to a night-sky pelt.
As if her pelt were not enough, similarly to the redish-orangeish-brown that decorates her fur, the pair of bright and round eyes that adorn her face are also a bright orange in color, much like the changing leaves of fall. Normally when a color like this is seen in the dark or in certain lighting, you would think that the tone or shade would change to a darker, almost-brown. But, against this thought, her eyes remain a vibrant color, only growing brighter orange in the daylight.

WARNING: In her history there is quite a bit of physical and mental abuse, so if those are things that you are sensitive too or aren't entirely ok with reading, I recommend just asking me for a summary personally.
Pre-Birth | There are those who are born into wonderful families. Loving, caring families who support all members and make sure that all are taken care of. Families where the members feel compelled to stay together and form inseparable bonds. This was not the case for Nanouk, not at all.
Diadora and Berric, two loner wolves that were not exactly a “couple”. Berric, along with his brother Fenris, were two brutes raised in a very openly toxic family. A family where females were meant for birthing puppies and nothing more. A family where males were dominant in every sense of the word and were given the right to do as they wished to any female they wished. A majority of the time, when any of the boys took on mates, it was hardly even enough to truly call them mates. Females would be brought in, shown their place in the family, and then bred every chance they could.
When Berric and Fenris broke away from the family, these thoughts stayed with them when they both encountered female wolves. Fenris had taken on a “mate” and almost immediately got her pregnant, while Berric still looked for another. And then he found Diadora. A lone female who had left her family a while back and was wandering on her own. Berric dragged her into the mix as well, buttering her up as though they were “beautiful and loving mates”. It didn’t take any time at all for her to realize that this was completely wrong, but every time she tried to sneak off, either Berric would stop her or Fenris would. Before long, she was pregnant also.
Now, as much as it would be hoped that while they were pregnant the girls would be left alone. But this was not the case. Even while they were expecting pups, both Fenris and Berric would not treat them kindly, mentally or physically. Both Dia and the other female gained many scars by the time it was birthing time.
The other female had given birth before Dia did, resulting in only two pups, one a male and the other a female. When Dia gave birth, genetics had unfortunately blessed her with the exact thing that Berric and Fenris had wanted: more males. Three sons and one runt of a daughter.
Puphood | From the very beginning, favoritism was not a concept Nanouk was unfamiliar with. Both she and her cousin Elena were thrown aside, given only the scraps of food, and were used as playthings, just as their mothers were. Both of them watched as their brothers were favored and treated like royalty, and were also taught the ways that their fathers had been taught. Only one of the boys was hesitant in these ways, and that was Jett. But any time he got caught trying to help them, he would be punished.
After only a few months, Diadora had grown extremely mentally unstable. She had always wanted pups, she had always wanted a family, and a mate. And perhaps she had gotten one, at the base of it all. But...this was not what she wanted. She had tried to run away so many times during her pregnancy, and she was always caught and stopped. Back then, she was bigger and slower. But not anymore.
Even though she did want to save her pups, she knew that the boys were a lost cause. But Nanouk…
In the middle of the night, Dia woke her only daughter from her sleep, grabbed her scruff, and bolted. Though, much to their terrible luck, they didn’t get far before their disappearance was noticed. With Fenris guarding his mate, Elena, and Jett(since he wasn’t trustworthy in their eyes), Berric and his three sons chased down Dia and Nanouk. Given the fact that the four of them were much healthier and better-fed, they caught up rather easily. Dia was tackled to the ground by her “mate”, he screamed and howled and snarled at her, and then killed her. Right in front of the three pups. The boys were definitely caught off guard, but Nanouk was horrified. She tried to scramble away, but Berric was quick to grab her by the head and take her back home. Nanouk, Elena, and her aunt spent the rest of that day in the den mourning, stomachs growling far more than usual since starvation for a day or two was punishment for Dia running away.
From this point on, even though the treatment of either of the other girls didn’t get better, how Nanouk was treated was far worse. She was abused, she was starved, she was used as bait, sometimes she was even used as a step-stool and a scratching post. In those times as she grew, she was brought to believe that she, as a female, was useless, and that her life meant nothing. She was nothing more than a pawn for those stronger than her.
As Nanouk and Elena grew older, they found that they were given only a small amount of more freedom than they had. Now that they were old enough, they were ordered to hunt small prey, always giving nearly all of what they caught to the males, while they were only permitted a single piece of what they caught. Admittedly, they would sometimes eat two or three pieces before they went home, always ensuring that the scent was covered. Their method of living was very strategic, and stealth was required practically every time they weren’t in the presence of the males.
Yearling | Throughout all of this, while Berric, Fenris, and four of the five boys lived their best lives, there was one who made himself lower on purpose. Jett, the more that he grew, tried to assist the girls as much as he could. He would sneak them prey, he would direct them to where the rest of the family was getting good water that wasn’t muddy puddles. He did what he could. And it was all a build-up for a plan. During a day when nearly all of the males, minus their brother Balkin, were out on a large hunt, Jett, Nanouk, and Elena went on a hunt of their own. They hunted down a young deer, and the three of them ate as much as they could, eating their fill for once in months. They then began to drag the over half-eaten corpse back to the pack. Their aunt quickly ate a decent amount before they let Balkin know of the kill. The other males returned with a kill of their own, and while they were slightly suspicious of the young deer corpse, they pushed it aside.
That night, Jett woke Nanouk, Elena, and their aunt, and with their stomachs full and their energy higher than it had been in a long time, they all left. At first all four of them ran together, but they knew they couldn’t stay like this. Sooner or later the rest of them would figure it out and would hunt them down. With this in mind, Jett had them all stop. He told them that he would act as bait, and that the three of them should split up so that there were multiple trails. They didn’t want to leave him, but they knew they didn’t have time. Nanouk made Jett promise that he would come and find her again, and he agreed. The three girls took off, occasionally crossing their paths so that their trails would be mixed up.
Eventually, they were completely separated. Nanouk was alone. She didn’t have other wolves breathing down her neck, or hateful eyes staring at her. She missed Jett from the start, but she knew she couldn’t go back. She knew that he would find her eventually. He had to. He promised.
She ran as fast and for as long as she possibly could. She had been travelling for nearly a month by herself when she found herself at the edge of a large valley. She assumed this valley to be empty, just as practically every other place was. But she was corrected.
She ran into another wolf, though this was done from a distance. This other wolf, a she-wolf as she found out, seemed to be alone, or at least she assumed so. There were a few times when she saw this she-wolf interact with other wolves, but it was never with aggression. Maybe she had friends that she ran into sometimes? She watched and followed this female for quite a while, before she got caught. The she-wolf, who called herself Timber, acted friendly, but, of course, Nanouk was still not one to trust easily. To her surprise, Timber stated that Nanouk was free to travel with her if she wanted, mentioning food and safety in this. Nanouk was still hesitant, but she began to follow Timber, at first from a distance. But after a few times of eating meals together, and likely once or twice of getting saved by her, Nanouk took on the role of a shadow, remaining either by Timber’s side or from a watchful distance at all times.
