Personality
Duchess values little over status and the condition of her fur. She believes that so long as she is beautiful, she can charm others into doing her bidding. However, she hasn't quite worked out that her personality is more likely to drive others away...
Having a tendency to act entitled, she can be stubborn at times and will often stand her ground, even when she is clearly in the wrong. In her eyes, she is never wrong; she is the epitome of perfection, or so she tells herself. Although she is unlikely to admit it, the truth is that she is totally helpless on her own. This is not because she is incapable, but rather, because she is unwilling to try.
Likes: Mild weather, flowers, venison, doing nothing, being envied.
Dislikes: Meat over a day old, pups, anything that could mess up her fur, (water, mud, dirt etc.) activities that require effort, being ignored.
History
Duchess's story begins with a pair of wolves who had always dreamt of having a family of their own. When the day came that their first litter was born, they were delighted to find that each pup was healthy with coats of luxurious, beautiful fur. The pups were their pride and joy, but one day, a mysterious illness began to spread through the litter. They watched in horror as they lost their beloved pups one-by-one, until just one remained. Duchess. The pup seemed unaffected, but they were still desperate to ensure her survival. From then on, they tried their best to bring her all the food she could ever need, and hardly ever left her side. The pup lived a spoilt life, her parents tending to her every need. This was the only life she had ever known, for she had been too young at the time to remember her siblings.
If there was a coyote eying up her meal, all she had to do was groan and her parents would chase it away for her. Too many birds hopping between the branches and disturbing her sleep? Not a problem. They even knew her favourite food. Life was great.
That is, until one day, her parents went on to have a second litter of pups. At first, Duchess thought it would be nice to have the extra company, but she soon came to despise the adorable bundles of fur. All of a sudden, they were the ones getting all of the attention. They were the ones being called "beautiful." What about her?
She tried desperately to get her parents' attention, but they just insisted on her learning how to hunt to help provide for the new pups. All they ever did was talk about the pups, and whatever this thing called "responsibility" was. She was sick of it, and so she refused to have anything to do with them.
If there was an annoying coyote eying up her meal, tough. Her parents were too busy looking after the pups. Birds hopping between the branches and disturbing her sleep? Also tough. Hungry for a nice slab of fresh meat? Tough. Life was miserable...
As the pups grew older, nothing changed. She couldn't help but wonder why. Did her parents not love her anymore? She decided to confront them about it, but this time, they seemed mad at her. Duchess couldn't understand what she had done wrong. All she did was say that it felt like they didn't care about her anymore, and that the pups had ruined her life. Or maybe she yelled... She couldn't quite remember. If one thing was for sure, it was that tensions ran high, causing her to storm off on her own. She didn't need them... did she?
She did. She totally did. Declining every lesson about survival, to her surprise, was not a good way to survive. It all seemed so obvious... but she had never imagined the world could be so cruel. She used to be adored... complimented, loved... but now she felt like she had been replaced. She didn't like it out in the wilderness, but the jealousy only fuelled her determination. She was going to be admired - more beloved and adored than those pups - and everyone was going to be jealous of HER.
