Tafa Information (For Au'Dar only)
Name: Raphael ♂
Species: Hummingbird
Other: A feisty little thing, Raphy is highly jealous of Naveen's attention with young tafa being the only caveat. They bonded while Naveen was an Apprentice Shepherd and had found a partially shredded nest in the wild woods surrounding the Au'Dar territory. No doubt the work of crows, or some other predatory bird. A feeble fledgling was all that remained, chest still puffing with the will to live even as a predator stood over him. Raphael lifted his head to show how sharp his long beak was and that was the only thing he could manage. Naveen slowly dropped to his belly to begin gently snorting the debris away from the fledgling with his nostrils, whiskers tickling the young hummingbird's face. He then howled for the Anima for help, not knowing what to do for the orphan. Raphael had succumbed to the stressful excitement and fell asleep during the gentle journey back to the Citadel for his healing process. The stubborn bugger wedged himself into a tight corner and didn't want anything to do with any of the tafa or the Au'Dar wolves. Except for Naveen. The rest, as they say, is history.
Appearance
Height: 25in
Weight: 43ibs
Length: 3ft
Eyes: deep emeralds that hold another wolf's gaze with meaningful warmth and empathy. Rather long eyelashes that curl upward at the corners of his eyes which are outlined with black.
Pelt: he's a creamy golden hue with some gray along the middle patterns and cinnamon red dusting his head, ears, shoulders, haunches and tail. Naveen's fur is very short.
Scars: none yet.
Physique: a lithe form with feminine hips and a foxy red hue to boot, Naveen is a rather pretty wolf although he's not aware of it. His frame is on the thinner side, but he doesn't look unhealthy and has lean muscle.
Reputation + Personality
Naveen is a generous soul with a heart of gold and he always approaches others with a warm smile, ready to lend a helping paw. He's usually soft spoken and prepared to lend an ear, or a shoulder if anyone ever needs it. For an Au'Dar he is a rather trusting wolf. Being the target of bullying in the past he lets taunts and harsh words roll off his back with a sassy waggle of his hips, flicking his silky tail before trotting away. The mixed wolf has no time or energy for such negativity, he only wishes to spread joy and see the Au'Dar pack thrive. He's never been physical with another wolf and sometimes finds himself stumbling around a handsome male, so when he starts feeling giddy like that the shepherd shyly excuses himself before his blushing becomes obvious.
The slender wolf can often be found enjoying the sunshine or fussing over plenty of young tafa in the Citadel if he isn't out in the wilds seeking new tafa to return with. He guides them through adolescence with gusto and compassion, eventually leading them to the adult ranks for them to bond with a worthy Au'Dar. It's an honor for him to aid his pack in such a way and he's honored to work among those cute critters. Naveen isn't a fan of snakes, but he doesn't neglect them, not by a long shot! He just makes certain to limit his availability for reptiles in general. The cold emanating from their scales cuts right through his short fur. Cold weather also displeases Naveen, as do bullies. There's no place in his world for such nonsense and he's swift to speak up in order to shut it down. Force is a last resort for this peacekeeper.
Everyone in the Au'Dar knows that Naveen is happiest when he's singing, which is really everyday. Not much can get the mixed wolf down in the dumps. His melodious voice soothes rowdy tafas and puts the young ones into a sweet slumber. The only guaranteed time that the Shepherd won't sing is during the Voyage. He deeply worries for not only all of the tafa, but the wolves they leave behind who anxiously await their return...or with chilling realization, their permanent absence.
History
Noteworthy blood relatives- father was an Au'Dar Warrior and his mother an Au'Dar Hunter
Parents: Kellen ♂ (Red Wolf) & Shabanu ♀ (Arabian Wolf)
Siblings: Jeriko ♂, Rinku ♂, Jasiri ♀ & Zanari♀
Cousins: Too many to list
Coming from the streamlined combination of the agile Arabian wolf and the elusive Red wolf, Naveen has always been teased for his rather feminine appearance however he took all of it in stride. Besides, only his siblings were allowed to pick on him. If anyone else began to bully the youngest of the litter then his siblings would rush in to punish them. Now as an adult he doesn't need to be fearful of adolescent taunts. Most certainly not among the regal Au'Dar pack. Born in the spring and the last of his litter, he was easily considered a runt although he was eager to play with the other pups. He was instantly curious of the adult wolves' tafa once he could open his eyes and became much more mobile, always seeking them out or playing with them on sight. The tafa were understandably gentle but firm with the energetic pup and as he grew he found he was drawn repeatedly to the outside of the Citadel in awe. It's inspiring to witness the way the Shepherds and the Anima guide the next generation of tafa. Nav was swift to scurry away, tail tucked, in case he was ever spotted, feeling as though he were intruding upon something ritual, something sacred.
It didn't take much for the adults in the pack to notice and begin to seek out the Anima to make mention of the yearling's interest in the Citadel's work. Not long after, Naveen found himself invited by a Mentor to begin his official Apprenticeship. That was the best day of his life, until he had found a bedraggled baby hummingbird among a wrecked nest. The best day of his life was finding his tafa, Raphael. Those two are inseparable and dutifully observe the Citadel's bustling world. No matter how much he enjoyed his newfound rank and calling in the pack, Naveen was crestfallen that his father never offered him praise. Instead Kellen would whisper low scorn about how "soft" his youngest son was. Never around the pack, usually under his breath with Naveen well within range. Once his mother, Shabanu, had been nearby and overhead with her wide ears. She set upon Kellen in a flash, her tafa (a skunk) fighting with Kellen's tafa (a garter snake) and it took the Centurion to break it up. The couple bowed to their leader and a heartbroken Naveen, then two years old, watched as his father took his tafa (who later abandoned the unworthy wolf) and storm away from the Au'Dar. Kellen snarled over his shoulder that Shabanu was no mate of his, Naveen was not of his blood, not now or ever. Shabanu chased Kellen out with a few of the bristled Au'Dar before pivoting on her heels to go and console her weeping son.
Nine months ago while he was out tafa hunting the slender male decided to nap after wandering a bit too far out. He was rudely awakened by the largest she-wolf he's ever seen and she wasn't happy to see him! Her teeth were on his shoulder and she kept screaming gibberish at him, making his hairs stand on end while he tried his best to get away from her without inciting further rage. Raphael acted quickly and dive bombed the big bully to spear her nose with his beak, making her squeal and release Naveen, pawing at her face urgently while hunkering down a quaking mess. Her ribs were showing and she looked gaunt all around. The female was panting and foaming at the mouth so he howled for aid, again rescuing a stray to return to the pack with. He couldn't do much for her but their Healers no doubt could. Naveen begged the Centurion to allow them to help this stranger, his heart couldn't turn away a soul in need. It was allowed begrudgingly at first. Now their lost and found stray is a member of the pack and a Warrior at that.
Roughly a year has gone by since Kellen abandoned the Au'Dar as well as all of his family. Time heals all wounds. Presently a full fledged Shepherd, Naveen focuses solely on his craft as well as bettering his bond with his pack mates. He is very close to the new Warrior Wamika, feeling responsible for her and even a bit of a brotherly bond. Most of his own siblings have dispersed to find their own way which is natural in the wolf world. There are plenty of brothers and sisters for him left in the pack still, Naveen cherishes each pack member and feels kindly towards them all. He would do anything for their happiness and well-being.
